Just picked up my lcr from jp board after its 40k service and pretty pleased as I had the service plus an air con service for £2 cheaper than it would have cost at my nearest seat dealer for the 40k service alone.

However....after i got in the car I checked the trip computer and low and behold it had an hour and a halfs worth of driving on it!!!! Seems a bit excessive to me (plus I think they must have ragged it a bit because the average fuel consumption was 24mpg!!).

What do you guys think?

it wouldnt have to be one journey, the trip computer retains data provided you start the car again within a given period of time...all the same.....not very happy about it!

Doesn't an air-con service involve setting off the air-con cleaner can inside the car and leaving the air-con recirculaing for 30 mins or so? This would mean that the engine would be idling for a while clocking up time and poor mpg.#

#As normal I reserve the right to be completely wrong about everything I have written.

hmm, if thats true that makes me feel a bit better. he said they put some kind of thing in it that might make it smell.

What about the miles it covered though? Did you make a note of it before it went in? It must state on the service book.

I've used JP Boards a few times for parts & servicing and never had any problems with them. After a service they take your car for a test drive, but they're only gone 15-20 minutes. There aren't any 'fast' roads in the area, and with the one way system, traffic lights every 10 yards etc, then you'd expect the mpg to be mid to low 20's.

Also as people have said, if the car's left to idle in the workshop for any length of time, that'll bring your average mpg down too.

Yeah - I am always dubious about that sort of thing so I always make a note of the mileage, just so I know someone has not gone on a jolly from London to Newcastle.

Defo good point about why mpg was so low with the engine being on and not moving.

Have a word shahigh and see what they say. Make a note of the mileage in future though.:)

Who told you to go there  , if you are unsure give them a ring . I know when my air con had a re-gas the engine was running for at least 35 mins . I know it`s a pain but u could try it yourself , leave the car ticking over with the aircon on for a bit then go for a drive .

Thinking back , when I had a regas on on a prev car ( alfa 156 ) it was idling for close to an hour . If something does`nt seem right we always think the worst and want someone to blame to make us feel better about spending money ( WELL I DO ANYWAY ) . I`m taking my car to the garage now as the rear door is locked & cant be opened . As it`s the side with the Baby seat its got to be done £££££££

 , Did u mean the car was in ther to have work done ?

it was parked in the garage bit in the back and had no price sign or anything on it to say it was for sale so i assumed someone had dropped it in for work. but it occurred to me that it might have been a garage courtesy car or something?

Thats not ragging it mate. If they had been thrashing it, your average mpg would read about 8-10mpg.

At moment in my car, driving around town and not taking revs above 3500rpm im averaging 17-18mpg inner city. 28-30mpg on motorway sticking to the same 3500rpm rule.

24mpg is good around town
