Good afternoon, Paul. just read through the forum you linked us to and to the most part, yes they are rite. Basically the problem is, On some models of Seats's and VW's (Both have the same hub dimensions)
the rear hubs sometimes have a very long spiggot that sticks out of the hub (over 16mm long) nhow obviously if you have a 16mm spigot you cannot have a 15mm spacer, but a 20mm spacer will do the job (after slight modification), But some times the rear spigot is much shorter and perfectly fine for the 15mm and 20mm spacers without modification.
If you can take a wheel off of your car and measure the rear spigot for us then we can work out what problems we may have to deal with. if you do have a longer spiggot im affraid only 20mm will fit but we will machine them to suit free of charge before sending them out.

I'm looking to get some spacers and after reading this thread i'm completly confused now, so is it better to get the ones with longer bolts or the one that bolts to your hub and your alloy?? and what is a spigot? sorry for being such a newb haha!!

Whether to go for the double bolted ones or ones with longer bolts is open to debate, but you definately need hubcentric spacers whatever your choice.
The spigot is the bit of the hub that protrudes into the hole in the middle of the wheel. The male bit if you like!!!
thanks for a usefull post, am I right in assuming that with 20mm the tyre is still within the bodywork, on standard wheels, did the insureance bump up your premium or don't they bother?Mine dont catch but I have 16's on and the standard 2 foot wheel arch clearance.

Sound advice, only issue is that my Bolts are 'custom', styled/co-ordinated to match the new Alloys that I have fitted (they were fitted when I had my new wheels put on).
Therefore standard extended Bolts might not look right ?

What they said. Def. check that the longer bolts are compatible and don't just 'fit'.

who is really going to say something with spacers between the hub and the wheel its not like a strut brace is it? (to the insurance company)
spacers increase the track of the wheels, which is changing the geometry from standard SEAT design specification!
i doubt any insurance company would overlook them andnot consider them to be a modification!

yeah is anybody really going to notice ?? supose they might.. might tell my insurance after aug on renewal cant be botherd to pay another £15 admin fee lol
I must agree. i know its wrong. I work in a body shop though, so basically I'd repair my car if anything happened. And i mean, the only way the insurance can get you on things like that is if they send an engineer round to look at the damage. and by that time i could have had the wheels off and removed the spacers. I know it's not right though.
