dont do it! they sound rubbish and your be changing gear every 2000 revs, plus they will make the back end of your car all sooty, plus when you remap it you will have to buy a new clutch which isn't cheap. I spend £140 a month on fuel (well thats before they put the price up!) and wouldn't change it

Funny, your quite definate in your denouncing of the TDI, but have you owned both cars??

Having owned both they are both great cars, and not far offeach other on perfomance. When i was doing silly miles the TDi was great and so cheap. The only reason i ever changed back to petrol was cos i wanted a Mini as they're on another level compared the beeza and also i do roughly 10k a year now due to using train for work.

But eveni have vowed the next car i have will be a tdi golf 4motion as i will be at an age where i need to go sensible, also fuel economy will be a real need soon if these petrol prices continue to go sky high, especially as i can only run on 99Ron in the Mini now.

I did the change to Tdi and never regretted it, still a good car and the bit about clutch and low revs in blollox, never changed my clutch or had problems until the day i sold it, which was my bad driving....lol

Well said. Ive always had sporty petrol cars and dreaded having to go into the diesel, but I can honestly say I cant fault it. Ok it sounds ****, but thats the only part of the engine I can fault! And now im used to how diesels work, i.e different rev ranges to petrols, I feel it can match most 'hot hatches' performance wise.

You don't know much about the Mini then Rash.Compare my Ibiza FR to My Mini. Th list price on my Ibiza FR was £12500 and the list price on my Mini was just short of £21000, so yep compared to the FR I'd say it was another level. Also drive one properly and yes the handling and point to point performance is sure on another level

My sisters Mini is a pile of wank. The ride is SOOOOOOOO hard!!!! Apparently the suspension is all wrong cos they weren't made to have run flats....

And it's gutless. Ant's is probably not to be fair!

who said we were compairing it to an fr

i was compairing it to a cupra ive never been impressed by mini's the spaz huge speedo and funny foor handles just my opinion

your ibiza looked lovely puzzled why you chopped them in for a MINI :( handling is the only thing the mini has over the ibiza but coilovers spacers and a strut brace would see that out  i do love the supercharged noise on the mini's tho !

and the fact that it cost more means NOTHING

the minis are good cars, my brother lent me his mini cooper s works for a week, and I would say its as quick as my revod cupra, handles well and the interior is funky. the downsides are that it is a bit of a womens car, there is literally no room in the back for passengers and its impossible to drive normally, with the supercharger always active it is a jerky tiresome ride (maybe thats why they switched to turbo in the new one). I also think it is vastly overpriced for what it is and the build quality not quite as good as you would have imagined with things rattling and the bbs alloys corroding badly. I think you are paying for the name and pedigree mainly.

its called warranty, BMW offer the best warranty and service package ever heard of for the Mini.

Guess how much 8 years servicing cost on my Mini. £400, mine came with the TLC XL pack which includes 8 yrs free servicing by BMW. Ha ha and it s on the car not the owner, so totallly transferable. Love to see SEAT offer that. 3 yrs SEAT ownership and i never once had my car cleaned, let alone fully valeted inside and out ( and that was just after an Oil change)

well when you spend 21,000 on a car that can be easily compaired to a 14,000 youd exspect £400 for 8 years servicing and a scrote clean your car :D
