How much would it set me back to go TDi do you reckon? Unless someone wants to swap LOL

This will most certainly make me want to keep mine

how much does it cost you in diesel a week for the FR TDi?

doing 400 mile a week in a 1.8T (it will be hard not to drive it enthusiastically!) , imo, could cost over £60 in fuel, which on average is £260 a month!

Do 320 miles a week, spend a whole £45 on fuel, + £5 for some millers additive and have tons of fun.

Ill agree with you about the sooty back end, Jesus mine can get bad if I dont clean it.
Also, mine is remapped and I havent had a hint of clutch slip yet and I dont potter around either, and ive done some runs down Santa Pod too.

Everything points to keeping the TDi except the looks, and I cant justify paying out £3000 for the cupra bumpers!!!

You've bought a 5 door FR TDi, do you have a family? 3 door cupra could be a pain?

No mate, got the 5dr as its all we had on stock at work at the min otherwise I would have had a 3dr, and I was desperate to swap as the insurance, tax, tyres, service all needed doing on the old car. It was a toss up between the Ibiza or a Megane Dynamique 130 bhp dielsel. I think i made the right choice ;)

the difference of the insurance cost added to the extra fuel cost your looking at a minimum of an extra £100 a month, if you got a right foot addicted to horses & torque you could double that!

only took my car to P-Torque last saturday and have to say its fantastic to drive now!
haven't got round to posting some praise in the Performance Torque section yet, which i must do as he has done a great job!

Probably going to get hammered for going off topic and told to search ,but what does "Millers additives" do?

Astra vxr is nice, and very rapid, my friend has one and its just been remapped, flipping fast now!!

But you can't compare that to an ibiza, maybe the corsa vxr

save your money and get a proper car eg astra vxr!

'Proper car' hmmmmm - when i think of a 'proper car' the Astra VXR isn't the first that springs to mind. I'm not saying i don't like it, i just don't know if a 2.0T Astra with 240hp merits the title 'proper car'.

how is a vxr going to be any diffrent to his fr on petrol mattyfabif i where you i would go for the cupra tdi you get all the looks and also you save the money on fuel may have to pay more in the first place but definatly dont feel it is lost as you will make it up on fuel bills and when you come to sell it.

Got to say i went from a Fabia vRS to an FR 20VT and its the best swap i`ve ever done. IMHO diesel is ok for people on a budget but if you really like to drive your car then get the 20VT version :D. Lots of loverly revs to play with! :clap:Of course i only do about 100 odd miles a week to work so petrol isn`t that much of an issue. ;)

Rash,
Not saying id get the VXR, was just commenting on how impressed I was about it, especially as its just a Vectra. Im in the precess of buying my 1st house, so cost is a serious issue, hence the reason I could really do with sticking to diesel for the time being, although id really like a petrol cupra as I love petrol turbo'd cars

Have u driven the VXR??? Its not half as bad as you would imagine. I know Clarkson said it understeered like a pig, but how often do u turn into round a bouts at 70+mph??? It handles a whole world better than my Ibiza.
