Investigation into service history paid off !

I am currently looking into getting a Ibiza Cupra TDI and have been searching for the past couple of weeks. My preference is to trade my car and pay the difference.

I was excited when last night i found one for sale at a repo company in Cheshire. 2004 04 reg with 20K on the clock for £8950 is a very good price. Was bit dubious as you never know the background of some of these cars.Anyway i rang them for more info, no M.O.T or service book, so i rung my local dealer to see if they could trace the service history. They couldnt but did give me the garage ( Seat Oxford) that had performed some warranty work. I rang them and they confirmed that it had 2 services 10k & 20K. The 20K service performed back in October 2005..So missing the last 18months or so. The car was advertised with 20K on the clock , so rung the repo company to advise that i reckon the car could have been clocked..turns out the milage was actually 34K and they had made a mistake with the milage..Back onto Seat UK this time for more info..again they couldnt give me service history but told me other warranty work was carried out at a dealer in Wales...I ring them up and they were a bit curious and didnt want to give me any info..i told them Seat UK told me to call for the service history....The dealer rung me back and said 'dont bother going looking at that car as its a crash repair and a botched job!' he didnt want to go into more detail but pretty much said dont go near it...Felt quite justified after all the digging i finally find the truth..

Just think i was gonna take a chance on the last 18months history and maybe purchase the car..!
If anyone is lookin for a Cupra TDI then dont get this one ..

Unfortunately this is what you can find in the second-hand car market.

Other things typical are cars purchased from owners where finance is still outstanding and the finance company actually own the car. Or stolen cars where you lose your money.

Im clued up about them things as i work for a major asset finance company and know how repos etc work and also HPI issues. Just feel sorry for those who dont and end up with a dodgy cars !

sounds like a good result!!!! the unfortunate thing is though someone wont look into the background of the car like you have, and will end up buying the car and more than likely (by the sound of things) have problems with the car and regret buying it!

why would you even consider spending 9k on a reposession car when you can get cars of the same spec for the same price, you just have to look a little harder though thats all.

I have been looking and are non available for 9K . I need a trade sale as i have a px and cant get a private sale as it will be too much messing around . I have made the decesion to not get one and stick with my Grande Punto Sporting Multijet. Im gonne remap that and put some eibach springs on..only cost me 500 quid to do that..Its not ideal as i dont like Fiats but gonna give it a chance , shoudl be able to get 170BHP and 260 Torques out of it..

Hold up, seat have all that info on the car? Would my car now be listed as a accident repair. The reason why im asking is that when I originally took my car in to get fixed the guy asked me how much it cost me to get it fixed last time. I didnt think anything of it, but could there be a chance my car had been in an accident before I got my mitts on it?

Any work carried out at a SEAT dealer will be recorded by SEAT

The car in the link HPi's as a Petrol Cupra, does not show accident damage, and the private plate on the car is now on a 56 plate Leon Stylance just incase anyone is interested
