Investigation into service history paid off !

Hi
Apologies for the old thread resurection but I thought it would be better than starting a new thread.
I'm currently looking into buying an LCR. I've been to see one that has £48k on the clock. However I was told that the current owner didn't get a service book with the car from the trader he bought it from 3 years ago. Therefore its is missing the first two service stamps. Is there anyway of tracking the history to see if and when these services were done? Its always dubious when a trader doesn't have the service book on a relatively new car.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

I think that any Seat dealer could let you know who the supplying new car dealer had been. I don't know where they keep, ie archive, all warranty and service details, but your local Seat dealer could let you into that secret also.

It's pretty crap when traders and/or previous owners dump the service book - it does make you, correctly, a bit suspicious though, and if a lot more people took that line then maybe these service books would be worth looking after!

Been doing a bit of calling around today. Found out from Seat UK who the supplying dealer was. Called the supplying dealer. They sold the car but it hadn't been serviced by them at all. Apparently the Seat dealers are not linked so they couldn't tell me who else serviced it.

Agree with you RUM4MO. I don't mind if relativly old cars don't have FSH but on new cars I always expect the first few to be done at dealers and get suspicious if the earlier ones go missing.
