Should I Swap????????

Should I swap my car for a Cupra 1.8T or not???? I know it'll handle / look better, but do you think the extra cost of running/insuring it is worth it just based on that? At the min, im happy with mine, its fast enough and doesnt look anything special so its always fun to show people up who think im just in a normal Ibiza. The insurance will be £300 a yr more expensive, obviously petrol is gonna be a lot more than the diesel so i dunno
Any suggestions???

BTW, its a 55 plate in black done 18000 miles, can get it for under £10000 from work

Depends how much you drive IMO. If you drive alot get a cupra tdi!

I drive 400 miles a week-ish. Cupra TDi is a little expensive as im just in the process of moving house. If im honest, im happy with the performance I have, im just vain and want the looks of the cupra!!

thats quite a few miles, you would be filing up twice a week so around £70 a week in fuel. If I was you I wouldn't go for the petrol then.

how much does it cost you in diesel a week for the FR TDi?

doing 400 mile a week in a 1.8T (it will be hard not to drive it enthusiastically!) , imo, could cost over £60 in fuel, which on average is £260 a month!

Hmm funny you should say that as I was thinking of getting myself the TDi Ibiza to replace my 20VT. Its costing me a fortune in petrol, tax and insurance. I only spend about £100 a month of fuel but I could half that with a TDi, insurance would be about £100 cheaper, and I dont think that the tax is £205 a year.

I wish id gone TDi, but I didnt

I can fill it up with venting and get almost 500 miles from the tank, so £45ish every week and a half.
I know I said im happy with the performance, I just miss the looks of a nice sporty car. I think the FR is very understated looking, and I like the in yer face looks of a cupra. I also hate the sound of the tractor engine too,lol.

dont do it! they sound rubbish and your be changing gear every 2000 revs, plus they will make the back end of your car all sooty, plus when you remap it you will have to buy a new clutch which isn't cheap. I spend £140 a month on fuel (well thats before they put the price up!) and wouldn't change it

The diesel engine sound never bothered me in my Ibiza - it only sounds like a tractor when idling and IMO sounds great when you give it the beans

i'd of thought that it would be a lot less than a £100 to insure a TDi than a 20VT!

my TDi sport is £110 to tax for 12 months!

as for MPG, now that i've had it remapped, i'm averaging 60mpg on the commute to work!

because of the low revs, this increase engine life!

you will only need a new clutch if you floor it in every gear, rather than applying the accellerator progressively!

as for the sooty back end , it makes you clean it every friday night after work so you can look good in your shiny car all weekend!

mine is group 8 insurance! £300 fully comp , not bad for 130 bhp and 230 ft/lb's in standard form

no its been remapped to 175 bhp (ish) & 290 ft/lb's (ish), my insurance has only gone up to £400 fully comp, where as the 20VT quote i got when deciding which ibiza to go for was over £600 in standard form.

Ill agree with you about the sooty back end, Jesus mine can get bad if I dont clean it.
Also, mine is remapped and I havent had a hint of clutch slip yet and I dont potter around either, and ive done some runs down Santa Pod too.

Everything points to keeping the TDi except the looks, and I cant justify paying out £3000 for the cupra bumpers!!!
