well i had my mot today and it failed on the suspension because the guy i bought it off fitted springs to the standard dampers and its very bad.... i knew this when i bought it tho and the price was fair, anyhow i have the standard springs sitting in my garage and i was wondering how long it would take to fit them back on and how hard it will be?

my other option is to get a h r cup kit of fk kit so does anyone know whats the cheapest place for these? i will be fitting myself..

oh yeah its a cupra

any input appreciated, cheers

Just fitted a new H&R cup kit to my cupra just this weekend. Was about £380 from europerformance. I also bought new top mounts and bearings for the front and rear for another £50

i presume its failed not because the springs are different per sae, but more they are lowered more than the standard springs and have knackered the standard shocks, ergo putting back on your standard springs will make no difference and that you need at least new dampers?

it says on the test sheet "coil springs not correctly located" and the bloke said the dampers are too long for the springs, i think your right tho saul the dampers will probably be knackered... im going o have a wee look see at europerformance, did you fit yourself big?

With the help of two friends yes. Took about 90 minutes - 2 hours. Hardest part was getting the bloody bolts undone.

was it fairly straight forward then? just a case of removing old and replacing? i dont need to pre load the suspension do i?

most place would say thats an observation, they usually pop the springs back in and warn you. the springs can pop out of place as they jack the car up and the suspension extends further than the springs.

however technically it is a fail.

was it worth buying new top mounts ? also same kinda question with the bearings.

Yes, as people have said if you're spending £300 or so on a new setup then its worth spending a little extra on new top mounts for the front and rear along with bearings.

When i took mine off and saw the state they where in, there was no way i'd have put them on my new setup, i'm glad i purchased them

Where did you get your kit from. I ordered mine from EuroPerformance, they told me the kit was built to order and they would place the order with the manufacturers themselves. I was then that it would take 10 days, I ordered it last Tuesday afternoon and it arrived Thursday morning room Germany direct.

No fitting instructions, its pretty straight forward. Know a mechanic who could give you a hand?

Did you get new top mounts and stuff?
