Well Im reasonably new to car detailing, in that all I have done in the past is a quick wash and wax anyway Im in a cleaning mood and the car is getting a spray on 2 pannels so.. I have bought

p21s bodywork conditioning shampoo
Drying towel
wash mitt
p21 Paint Work Clenser
Miagars quick clay
clearkote red moose machine glaze
poorboys ex sealant with carnauba
Chemical guys wax

In the past I have used the 2 bucket method with a sponge, anyway only heard good things about the above, just wondering what I should be doing to get the best results. Also does it matter that the car probably still has some wax left on?

From what i have gathered the clay bar will strip all wax off and any other crap on the paint, then you add your products on top, have done this on mine and does make difference, although a novice job, but was ok.

hey mate,

you have started off with a very good lineup!

make sure you take your time as this will pay off dont try and (rush) it!

make sure the car is clean,to get the paint as clean as it needs to be
can take upto 3 good washes.

try not to do the detailing in the sun as this makes it harder for you.

iv got close to the products that you have and on the weekend i did mine,
have a look at the pictures and let me know what you think :)

As above but wash with APC or washing up liquid to strip the wax and products first. Make sure you rinse well. A good tip do the clay first to remove bonded contaminents then paintwork cleanser. After clay wash the paint cleanser. I would also leave it a week or two before doing anything if you are having the panels resprayed, a personal thing as if they bake it they will be fine but I like to make sure the paint has fully hardened.
To get the best from the paintwork you can do no better than a professional machine polish and not by the monkeys in a bodyshop.

Load of bollocks mate.

Fairy liquid is good for the first detail, but only the first, it is a very good degreaser and will help loosen the bonded contaminents, and strip and wax that is on there, so you can start with a clean wax free finish.

After that wash with a quality foaming shampoo.

Adam, Daffy knows a thing or two. He is suggesting it as part of a detail to remove old residue, not as part of a normal washing routine.

:-o :censored::ban:

DO NOT USE WASHING UP LIQUID please please please!!!!!!!

washing up liquid contains salts that strip your paint badly. it really does not do your paint anygood.

Which is exactly what I said in my first post. It won't strip your paint it will remove/ breakdown the waxes on the paint. For regular washing a good quality car shampoo which is balanced so not to remove paint.
