Bloody hell, you got high ambitions!

All I got for you is GOOD LUCK! Certainly going to be a challenge but if you manage it would certainly pay to see the results lol.

right ive already had it all priced up to be done to mine , your looking at a MINIMUM of 5k to get it done all the way up to 8k as you need custom subframes made for the engine , wiring loom from the 1.8T customised to fit the car etc , then custom driveshafts , customise the dash to fit the clocks from the 1.8T then theres the brake upgrades , custom exhaust to match the 1.8T manafold to the exhaust tunnel on the arosa .

its a lot of work, i was thinking about it but its near on 9k to complete not worth doing

how do you figure 9k if it's a DIY job?

people get quoted IMO rediculous amounts of money for straight forward jobs.

yes, you need some fabrication - no it's no big deal if you have the ability.

no, a VIC is for a written off vehicle

you mean an engineers report, to confirm that it's not been stuck together with glue.

thats the one! yeah they make sure brakes suspension is suited for the conversion you've done! 1.0 brakes and 1.8t engine is a deffo trip to hospital !!

I seem to recal Vemon made a very scary 1.8T conversion to a 1.0 Loop - bright green, and still on 1.0 brakes

Call me blonde and Naive but, I dont understand the mentality ? Buy a car with a bigger engine  I love the nippiness of the Arosa and just think with a massive engine in it you would lose all of its little endearing qualities. From a mans point of view its like meeting a girl with big boobs but, finding out she has stuffed her underwear with chicken fillets ??

polo and lupo GTi engines fit mate . your best off with the polo though as its got a cable clutch ( like the 1litres ) and the lupo GTi has a hydraulic clutch so you would need to change the peadel box aswell . if you go for the polo one though im not 100% on if the driveshafts are the exact same but im sure if you called VW and asked them for the part numbers from both cars driveshafts that would tell you or not if they were the same

I'd probably stick to the Lupo or Polo engines as well, because a chap I knew when I had a Golf put a VR6 engine into a Mk2 Golf and it was absolutely great - in a straight line. It totally threw the car out when it came to handling because the Mk2 wasn't designed to have so much weight up front. And to be fair, we all love the Arosa because it leaves everyone else behind on the corners, but there's always going to be someone faster in a straight line! And that's without all the attendant problems of checking that everything will match up. Still, think of the man who first tried milk. Good luck if you're trying it!

Goddess - love your bra analogy!

hi guys i was thinking of a 1.8 20 valve conversion it seems silly tho spending 8 grand to do it.

im thinking of the polo 1.6 engine now after reading this forum.

couple of questions
polo engine 1.6 what bhp do they throw out ?
how much can you pick up these engines for ?
and what other big jobs need doin for the conversion asin brakes, gearbox, wirering loom ?
