This is a really odd question but just wondering it anyone has done it.

I know they make the 1.8 turbo. But just wondering if anyone has taken it on themselves to turbo or supercharge their 2.0l 8v or 16v.

Just was brought up in a convo the other day.

Its alot of work

I thought about doing this to my MK3 Golf valver

supercharger is easier as you don't have the pain of setting up oil feeds as it is all self contained

alot of research showed that the Eaton Supercharger is the best one for the job - they come off the standard kompressor Mercedes and are very easy to get hold of, as there are alot of written off Mercedes on ebay. Also this makes it easy to get hold of replacement ones

Bahn Brenner is the other popular choice as well, see below

Like the look of this! Is this possible on the 2L AGG engine?

What would a conversion translate to in GBP!???

DC

depends how technically minded you are - as in can you do it yourself?

Its not just the kit you have to factor in here, its getting help from experienced professionals to help fit it and setup the whole package succesfully

The likes of Vince from Stealth racing would be high on my suggestion list

also i would suggest a fully mappable ECU, like megasquirt, and then again you need to pay for the time on the rollers for it to be setup

you could easily add £1500-2000 for fitment and setup on top of the cost of the hardware

you can't go much wrong with the Bahn brenner kit as seen it fitted to a number of cars

Whether it fits to the AGG car.....i don't know. Again i suggest calling Stealth racing, who are always helpful and would offer that advice. These guys are based in Banbury

OR

there is Storm Developments in Reading, who specialise in old skool dubs, so they will be able to help, both Storm and Stealth are in the same line of work regarding this kind of tuning

8v suoercharger kits are alot more common than 16v ones. Bahn Brenner sell a complete kit for the AGG.

Stage 1 = 1,472.16 GBP
stage 2= Add 278.758 GBP
Stage 3 = Add 608.861 GBP

GBP's are greath british pounds btw.

EDIT: link http://www.bahnbrenner.com/vw_audi/...BM_Supercharger_Kit__Lysholm__MKIII_2_0L.html

that is a very reasonable price

I would recommend the stgIII kit, as this comes with the FMIC intercooler, which is what will really be required for the best setup.

Not sure if you know, but if there is not enough sufficient cooling, then it will be hard to extract the most power from the kit or ensure it is running smoothly IMO

Could be an interesting prospect for the future! As I prefer my Mk2 this maybe an alternative to shelling out on a 20vt and freshen things up performance wise

A 20vt transplant would be the other consideration!

Let the research begin!!!

It would certainly be more easy to abstract big power from the 20VT engine, with the big turbo route, if this is what you wanted to do

however the bahn brenner route perhaps is a little more individual.

also you have to consider which one is easier, and of course there is no lag with the bahn brenner SC

For drivability its got to be supercharger, no lag, more progressive, and can still run high boost on em.

What sort of performance would you expect? Would it simply be a case of smoother acceleration or will you be able to greatly notice the difference?

so for a standard valver (2.0 16v) which normally run about 160bhp, what would the power be upped to if you bolted on the Bahn Brenner charger (STGI?)
