Is there a post about this? I've seen them in the past, but couldn't see a recent one.

My hubs have gone rusty, so too have my Hubby's cousin's on his FR TDi (Mine is 6 months older than his).

I'm going to start emailing pics to Seat this week (when it stops peeing it down with rain). Just wondered how many others have this problem.

Paint them with hammerite to stop the problem. Only cars that don't have rusted hubs are new BMW, Audi and Mercedes cars due to use of expensive corrosion protection coatings

I think it's pretty much across the board on the Leons, and Altea's. Mine has it, and every other I've seen that is more than a few months old has it. :(

Anyone after a smoother 'looks like it was done from new' finish than hammerite, try aluminium silver paint in spray form. it takes a while to carefully mask up bits to avoid overspray but the finish is really good. Also you can spray the spray into the can lid and paint it on (drys very quickly so you have to put it on fast.) I also use a small paint brush and paint the outer edge of the disc to stop that from rusting. Just be sure to wipe off any paint that comes into contact with the braking surface. Clear high temperature laquer is great for keeping bright brake calipers looking new ifyou dont want to paint them a different colour.:)

Its a shame this happens, we currently are removing the rear wheels and painting them with the silver high temperature paint for a more neater look. This has been passed on to SEAT UK, so hopefully in the future this will be addressed!!

All but one of mine are ok on my 14month old car.

But the Cupra i test drove had corrosion on every caliper  after 200miles

I was looking at a Brera in the AR dealer last week and that was exactly the same, not good on a £28k car!

Do you have a spec or name etc of the paint your are using?

err.... the outside bit which the centre of the alloy wheel touches (and the wheel bolts er.. bolt into)which is between the alloy and say the brake disk.

If you look at the wheel you can see through it to the brake disk, look down to where the alloy meets the car, that bit which you can see.

Man i love it when i make *so* much sense!.
/goes to find a picture!

I think the gripe is the 'bell' part of the disc which is coated in some kind of Zinc Chromate finish which varies in quality.

your discs arnt going to fall apart or nothing - your Maindealer will do their best to stifle their luaghter when you attempt a warrenty claim.

I know exactly what you mean - mind you I should do - thats my car!! I took it into SEAT and they told me to get some high temperature paint and then looked at me with a blank expression! So not to be outdone I hit him back with - wont that melt the brush! He wasnt amused - but at least I had the last laugh. Hammerite sounds about right to me.
PS If anyone wants to do it and can gaurantee a neat job I will pay them to do it.
