Hi, I just install a Cruise Control in a Seat Ibiza IV. I program the ECU with the VAG-COM but still no Cruise Control. Is there any one that is familiar with this mater? Maybe needs also a Relay or Fuse? Any help is welcome.
Regards
Thomas

I see that you have a cupra, is it a tdi or a 20vt ?

I had cruise fitted to my FR 20vt and the seat dealer that did it had big problems the same as you, 10 days later still no cruise until they found that they had fitted a tdi cruise kit to a 20vt

20vt needs an extra wire connected that does not come with a tdi kit

speek to Kings Seat in Chandlers Ford Southampton UK and they will remember my car I'm sure :D

let me know if you want a phone number

Also please, ask them where the wire is fit to, i will appreciate that.

Thanks in advance

they don't seem to have a web page of their own just the standard seat uk one

talk to a guy called Kevin Fisher on this number +44 02380733733 and he will prob give you his email address

also I think JBS should be aware of the extra wire needed on the 20vt

good luck

The ERWIN (ie factory) wiring diagram shows an extra connection for a Motronic ECU (not sure if this is your car...); this looks like the same connection goes to 2 different connectors (T121 and T80 are different connectors.. the second number refers to the pin number of the connector)

(there is only one connection for diesel, 4MV and Simos ECU).

This is the wire that connects all these together;
XS3 connector T6w on pin 3
Cruise connector T41 on Pin 29 & pin 26
then these are all connected to ECU (pick yours below);

J220 = T121/38 = Motronic control unit
J220 = T80/24 = Motonic control unit
J248 = T121/14 = Diesel injection system control unit
J361 = T121/28 = Simos control unit
J448 = T121/38 = 4MV injection system control unit

Hope that helps ... do a PM if you need more.

m I right in thinking that you need vagcom to enable the cruise stalk also , when you query the ecu it returns a code and if there is a G at the end of the code its enabled and vice versa?

Send a PM=Private Email (click on my name by this post) for pictures not words;)

Yes you can see it enabled by the ECU code change.. it is G at the end on top right of screen... if you enable it;
"Then the engine ECU needs to be programmed for cruise. The engine ECU (01) needs to activated, this is done by entering the login (11) code -11463. I used my Vag-com, however on later cars (late 2004/2005) cars this can only be done by a dealer using their VAS computer." .. said someone someplace somewhere (sorry someperson ...lost the reference).. then you find it throws a fault code if you have not wired up the cruise. I also had to come back out of Vag-com after activation and then go back in to check for fault codes or it threw a code when activate then check for fault codes:confused:

To disable cruise control enter 16167 instead

.. all careful/techie DIY'able with some searching and Vag-com.

Thomas,

Send me a private email by clicking on my name beside this message and selecting "send a private message to mgrays" from the menu revealed; ensure your send your email address in the message and I can send you all you need to do the job; I have not made it into a "public domain" friendly form yet:rolleyes:

.. Btinternet seem to have failed to provide my expected new website with broadband (read everything twice!) so I have not bothered to stick it anywhere .. or photobucket etc .. well not bothered really.

(the rest of my last message was answering other folks messages)

There is no such thing as kit for cruise control or wiring kit if you want to upgrade I believe.. you buy the stalk .. then make up new wiring to add in white ... and use a VAG wiring loom repair kit to make up the end crimps for the seperately bought connectors; this is offical method. Most dealers just buy crimps and get on with it! So no UK part numbers.. more a buy the bits.
