Well due to some lovely road in Bristol with the worlds largest ramp and my lovely lowered cupra I managed to catch my oil sump on it and rip a nice hole in it...[:@]

Does anyone know what sorta price I'm looking at to get it fixed? Or how much the part is and how long fitting would be

Alison Road in Brislington, Bristol. Basically they sort of made a ramp down in the road where they've removed the road surface and then you go back up the otherside. I caught it going back up...I went back to have a look and its really steep which is why I caught it :(

I'm more worried that I might of damaged my engine, I didnt think I'd caught it as it didnt really make that sort of noise and just thought it was me going up the ramp. I got about half a mile away and my oil light came on so I pulled in and turned the engine off and my power steering died as I pulled in, hope I havent :'(

Get some pic's of it,. with today's paper, and if possible something that can help gauge the height of the step, also if possible show the height compared to the width of any ramp-like thing they've built. Then get onto the council.

Keep a copy of all the pics if they ask for them.

Good shout,

A mate of mine proceeded to do this and got the council to pay towards the cost of the repair.

Worth trying to do, saves you having to fork out the money.

this happened to me with my old corsa, council didnt want to hear about it soon as they saw the car, said the roads are made for normal cars, said it was my fault for it be stupidly lowered

fingers crosses for you. doesnt take long to seize an engine and the oil runns out pretty fast.

sump on a leon if about £80, fairly easy job to do yourself, you will need a sealing kit (they are bolted and sealed into place).
or 90 mins work at a garage id say.

(i think i seat dealer does it for £240 or there abouts for parts and labour)

I wouldn't send the 3rd video, showing the signage correctly in place where as it's been clearly destroyed in the other pics/vids

I lost my Polo to roadworks, 110mm lowering at the front, exposed draincover (identical to that one but in the middle of the road) vs. my subframe..

Subframe won, at the expense of a bent chassis!

Feel sorry for you mate

I'd be worried that the top end and turbo has been damaged, how quickly did you turn it off?
