My Nightmare Mk4

I HATE my Ibiza

Have had a string of problems, but heres the latest.
Its a '03 Signo with 92k on the clock

At the moment its idleing slightly roughly. Every so often it seems to...cough i guess you'd say it. Outside of that (and this is the most annoying bit)
If i'm crusing in any gear but have the rpm's around 1,500 to 2500 rpm's the engine feels like its jerking. like its starting to choke. But if i'm driving along on a motorway etc at normal speeds (60-70) theres no problems.
I've brought it to my local Seat garage 5 TIMES, only for them to claim they can't find a problem.
A mate of mine (whos a mechanic, brought to the VW garage to use their computer) Their one registered random misfires on one cylinder.
Tried a new coil on that one and it made no diff.
I'm at a loss. if i keep bringing it to Seat...well they are just idiots so i'd prefer not to.

Anyone got any idea's...or has anyone seen this before?

oh and another small problem. the boot isn't locking by remote anymore. Only by key

if its a 1.8T which its not as 2003 i would have said coilpacks.

But have you changed the plugs and also although it osunds silly, checked the plug tightness. There have been instances where people fitted plugs ona steaming hot block, when cold they loosened off. Or if the plugs have been either incorrectly matched or simply not replaced could be another reason. I am assuming thats where i would start. MAF sensor could also require a clean, try running without MAF and that would show a change. But i would have expected a correpsonding code on vagcom with that. Also quality of petrol, you put any diesel in accidently or anything like that. but again there would be other signs. I'm assuming they have also reset the ECU to allow it to recalooborate. But failing that may be down to a sensor, but this would usually show up on a log. hard to tell really.

yea they have reset the ECU (so they said)
Haven't changed the plugs recently.
as for a coilpack. you mean all 4 coils?
I wonder can i 'borrow' 4 coils to test them.
Might be able to...must check that out

yeah i would start off with simply checks like plugs and spark gaps.. we have had some cars come into work running rough. not showing up on computers. but they had just filled their tanks with fuel.. so maybe that dodgy fuels is around the county again!!! just a thought!!!

well i'm in ireland. haven't seen the fuel problems you guys inthe UK had.
going to get the car serviced soon anyway. so might get the plugs and fuel filter changed aswell to see if that helps
