no mate i was joking. ive no idea why.

cold air = more o2= more fuel thus power.

its the law.

you`re all crazy

however saying that.... warm air = less o2 =less fuel ? surely if the ecu adds more fuel to compensate for more air then the actual fuel air ratio is still the same?

correct me if im wrong...just thinking of it from a different angle.

If that is the case then surely there is a temperature where the air has just the right amount of density to create the "best combustion"??

Another reason why Global Warming is a good thing... it makes some peoples (freak) cars go faster! :D

1 pint of warm air holds less o2 than a pint of cold air.

so more o2 in each cylinder . volume remains the same but because more fuel is added to make the ratio right you get more power.....in the cold.

i think.:)

That's the points I was trying to make earlier. Simple GCSE physics and the laws of the combustion engine dictate that cold air will create a bigger bang than warm air.

So that's why I was suggesting other things, such as traction or the clutches clamping force when warm. There has to be a reason, but I don't believe it is anything to do with the warmer air entering the engine, as that goes against everything we know to be true.

Does your car have a tendency to go to sleep every afternoon for a few hours? Is it called Manuel? Does it ride a Donkey?

Hi guys,

Got a weird one here - I can offer no explanation, can you............

My Leon seems to perform better in the HOT weather as opposed to the cold.

Now shouldn't the performance depend on the temp & density of the air, i.e. the colder it is, the better the car should run ????

Mine must be a woman & have hormonal problems !!! It's "OK" in the cold, but as soon as the temps warm up, it's like $hit off a shovel & I want to know why ??

Its called grip/traction. :D

Damn you people and your pro-Global Warming agendas!!! It's a farce, I tell you!

Also.. put me down for a 12v car heater mounted under-bonnet. Group buy anyone? Woolworths offer a 0.3% discount on purchases in bulk (44 items or more).

This thread has inspired me to take the scenic route home tonight since it's warmer and put this theory to the test!
