Rob its not a support issue..

its all down to the cold air feed... if you want it on then theres going to be a slight kink in the tip.

it seems to me that to get the filter to a cold air feed the TIP is pushed downwards and back a little bit causing the kink to occur. i'm thinking that maybe if a small amount was trimmed off of the TIP it wouldn't be as much of a problem, maybe if it was trimmed at a downward angle so the MAF was pointing downwards a touch the problem would be solved??

maybe somebody with access to vag-com can log some runs with the standard TIP and a forge one to see if this kink affects airflow at all............... actually forget that, aren't airflow readings taken from the MAF?

trimming it might help but have you ever trimmed a silicon hose before? I was worried that i wouldnt be able to do a neat enough job.

Airflow is measured by the MAF, I'm not sure how much yours has kinked but I'm not that worried about mine affecting airflow, although i would like to get it sorted.

If the Jabba induction kit is fixed to the wing as well as the TIP, then I'd be surprised if you had the same problem, as the kit would be nicely held and supported. I'm not entirely surprised that free-standing kits that are held solely in place by the TIP are affected, but if it's secured at both ends it should be OK?

that's what i'm hoping.

on the other hand, it may give me problems, if there's no room for movement

Sounds more like it's a design issue with the induction system. A properly designed system would hold the induction in place so that the exit is exactly where the rest of the OE inlet hosing etc wants it to be and then design the cold air feed around where the filter ends up not vice versa.

I have the jabba kit with the samco TIP (I always thought it was identical to the forge one) and it sits perfectly! How you finding your jabba kit kez? Not many people have them do they.

loving mine. makes a nice sound with the bailey DV. bit fiddly to fit though ;)

i also had to take an angle grinder to the heat shield as it was preventing me from fitting my strut brace.

does the samco tip make a difference? i'm still going for the forge one, as i need some other bits, but am having trouble ordering :hide:

DV does sound good through it. Jabba fitted it all at the same time so I couldn’t really tell you but my guess is probably not, I think its worth while doing if you have or are planning on getting a remap as the standard one can collapse. Mine certainly doesn’t have a crease in it. :p

well my new forge TIP is sitting next to me on the desk, just need to get out and fit it. Glad this has been brought to my attention, as i would have been cutting AGAIN. I had to nobble about 2cm of one of the upper boost hoses as it was to long, and had a mega kink in it no matter how i twisted and fiddled it. After taking a SHARP stanley to it and trimming up it fits like a glove now. I did a VAG MAF log yesterday eveing and logged 198GPS so will be interesting to see if it makes any difference at all really having a TIP.

my forge TIP made a difference over the seat original. throttle response seemed better and it was a lot smoother even with the kink in the top.
