Went to work today parked my car only to return and find both number plates lying on the floor, I thought someone had pulled them off, but me being me have a camera put of my car for security reasons. I looked on the footage expecting to see someone pulling them off, but no they dropped off due to the heat. Worth checking.

Cheers :)

The curve is quite a problem I think on the new Leon for sticking plates on. The garage stuck my plates on at my request and they started to come off 24 hours after I picked the car up.

I don't think the area and plates were prepped properly so will try myself at a later date.

Hopefully it'll work next time as I hate screwed plates.

When I bought my TDI Sport a couple of months ago the dealer told me that they now screw all plates on as there have been numerous incidences of the plates falling off due to the curvature of the bumpers.

The plates on my FR were screwed on by the stealer, I had no choice in the matter, but I got new plates made and now have them stuck on with no problems whatsoever.
I think the look a lot better without screws thru them.

My back plate is screwed on..

Though the dealer put my front plate on and within a few days one side had come off.. I was putting my own reg on it the next week so it wasnt a big deal..

A tip is to put the sticky pads on the middle part of the actual bumper, they you know they will make contact with the plate on that part, then the ones on the outside on the plate..

My plate wouldn't dare budge now..

I had my ZX number plates drop off 13 years or so ago. It's best for the garage not to stick them on. I returned the car to the garage and they did it correctly by screwing them on. Cheap skates.

Someone in this instance had picked my number plate up and balanced it on the wing mirror so I'd see it !.

Found my rear plate on the floor yesterday after the sticky pad gave up maybe the black pitted vinyl surface on the rear diffuser allows water to get behind the sticky pad when wet causing it to loose adhesion. I think I'll screw it back on to be safe although does look better without screws.
