Hiya, wonder if anyone can help?

The enigine management light came on a while ago and the car started juddering like a misfire, took it on a motorway run and it helped but was still an issue, gave it some redex and it seemed to solve it. But now its happening again, the light is still on.

Took it into a garage and they said its the EGR Valve. They have take 3 weeks to try and get a replacement but still no joy.

Anyone know where I can get one or if I can look at it myself and clean it up as I understand they get blocked with carbon?

Thanks

If you do a search mate i am sure this has been discussed before several times. Like you said though you can just take it off and clean it out unless it is the shudder valve that has died. I did have a EGR in my garage somewhere if you don`t have any luck.

I have searched for it and found some info but no suggestions as to where to buy one from (I've tried the local dealer and they cant get one for a while)
I've read that cleaning the valve allows the dirt into the pistons? So would replacing it have the same effect?

Take the whole thing off and replace t with a pipe, it restricts the power to the engine anyways, so if you take it off like i did it will give you more power :D

Unbolt it from the pipework and clean it. Have you tried places like Vagparts or any other OEM parts suppliers?

Cheers, I'll have a look at the sites and see if they have it.

I'm not even to sure where the thing is in the engine bay. Whats it connected to/look like?
