Hello MK2'ers - Help with info on Ibiza softop.....?!!?

Now that title better get some people looking... and I know you can scroll over this and read it before entering the thread, so god damn im going to make this a long one so u have to click on it to read what im actually chatting about!

Anyway, yes the subject at hand.. I know someone that has a Seat Ibiza MK2 1.4 and its basically near on a softtop! its elec and folds down to the point where you can see the sky and everything! It rocks! Anyway, I have NEVER seen one before, and didnt even know they were around till he found this just for sale as a normal Ibiza... crazy, a! Anyway...

He has since passed his test, and turning 18 and coming into alot of money, so is thinking of selling up and buying a MK4 PD but I really really like the idea of his car being pimped and a full on show car... am I being daft?

How rare are these? Any idea on how much they are worth? Its pretty low milage, sumet like 60k and from what I can remember is in alright nick...

Would you buy it? Any know faults in the power house of a the 1.4? Or anything else I should know/look out for?

Yes, im pretty sure his is like a blueish green.... Dont like them? I havnt actually seen it much, just the odd look for 2 minutes... I just like the sound of a softtop MK2

Had me intrigued enough to read through, ya barstid!!.. I had a 1.4 and it served me well fella.. had about 90k on the clock when I sold it on .. as for the 'ragtop' type thing.. never seen one.. dont think theres too many of the normal sunroof variety in the UK let alone anything like your describing...

Is this like the VW Polo "Open Air"?

If it is that would look good pimped/euro with deep dish alloys, lowered and if poss an engine transplant.

I saw a euro look black Polo 16v "Open Air" at Stoner Park VW show last year and it looked top! sitting on polished BBS!

i remember when they 1st came out, think it was called the ibiza air

full length fabric roof with electric operation (some of them leaked)

only available in cantabrian blue and tornado red from memory and i seem to remember all uk dealers got stuffed with one of each colour

Have only ever seen one and that was Cantabrian.

a half hearted Cabrio for the spanish sun which made utterly pointless in the uk
