Following on from This thread, Brad took a trip down to see me today and we plugged my laptop into his car.

Nice to meet you, Brad.:)

First of all, the fault codes on the car were

I cleared the codes.
I then plugged my SPS3 in to see if we could get any Revo response. It peeped a lot for Revo off, and then peeped a lot when I tried Revo on. (is that what we'd expect on a non-Revoed car???? )

We then set off to do some logs. The car has no pull....

Firstly 003 and 020. The car won't rev over 5080 rpm....

Unspectacular MAF readings - but I don't think that's it......

Next 115 031 .... I am a tit  I can't find the log on my computer. :hide:
Anyway, when I was logging, Requested Boost was sitting solidly at about 1350 ish with Actual following it exactly.

Next 118 and 032

I then did a Vag-Com TB reset. Made no difference.

I checked the car for fault codes again and none came up.

Finally, we tried my good N75F on Brad's car. Made no difference.

Can anyone tell us why the car is only requesting 1350 -ish mb and won't rev over 5080?

maf sensor is reading terribly low matey. if its not getting the airflow detected its not going to supply the fuel, hence no revving..
Did you disconnect the maf for a run?

I would say wastegate but that would show up on the actual vs requested, does sound like a mapping issue

anyone played around with lemmiwinks on there or something similar?

could try a battery disconnect

1350 millibar is really 350 millibar when you take off atmospheric, 5-6 psi maybe?

almost looks like a valet mode, will the car get up to a good speed? 70mph or more?

That's the thing - Car was allegedly chipped, but may have been 'interfered' with. The car will do just over 5k rpm in any gear, so it's more than a limp mode or valet mode.

Brad's tried battery disconnects..

I think your right it looks like the car is doing exactly what its told to do, hence no real fault codes and no change when components are swapped over

something has either been changed or the car has been reset to limp/valet mode (maybe even a fail safe to protect tampering but I doubt it)

ecu swap will probably confirm everything

my SPS beeps, rather than peeps. maybe that's the problem  ;) Seriously though, I think that they beep even if they're plugged into a car that's not Revo'd. Is he POSITIVE it's been Revo'd?

The errors maybe point to a dodgy ECU connection, a dodgy ECu or I remember reading somewhere that a ropey soldered in chip gave similar errors.

I would go and see a Revo dealer, see if they can reflash (there might even be any update available) then take it from that.

No Phil, the only reason Revo was suspected was because a 'mapper' Brad knows had a look - couldn't read the ECU and said last time that had happened it was because Revo was on the car.

I would say its in a safe/valet mode otherwise requested wouldn't be so low at 0.35bar. Can you turn valet mode off with SPS?

Were you at full throttle when logging MAF? I take it you tried it in 4th gear? Were the lower 3 gears exactly the same with a 5080 limiter?

There is valet mode on Revo (Boost 0) so on/off won't have changed this I think

You would need to change it to a specific setting (assuming this is the problem) but I'm sure on the Ibiza Valet rev limit was 4000rpm

I thought valet mode was rev limited at 4k on the Leons too.... Maybe I should have tried some other Revo settings, but as it was beeping lots more than when in use on mine, I didn't think Revo was on the car.

Worth a try, Brad.

I'm sure this thread will get a bit more input yet. In the meantime, several lines of enquiry.......

Contact the previous owner to find out how the car was mapped / chipped.
Try another MAF
I've PM'd Kev from Revo to ask what happens when you put an SPS3 in a non-revoed car...
Meet me early one evening on the A19 and we could try some other Revo settings...
