even with arp bolts in you should now be running at least one 8mm dowel in there other wise it will shear off again. Seen people do that before and spend a fortune on bottom end rebuilds over and over then after 1000's spent someone comes along and says where's the dowel:)
for the sake of taking out the box machining two holes one in the crank and one in the flywheel then fitting the dowel youll save yourself alot of time and hassle in the end all for about £20 job done:)

The ARP bolts are a very good fit to the flywheel holes - not as tight as a dowel admittedly but a damn sight better than std - plenty good enough for the job especially with a 10lb flywheel. There's 2 sizes of holes in an ABF flywheel for some reason, one smaller 'pilot' hole and 5 larger holes, 10.7mm. Std bolts diameter = 9.8mm, and no shank, fully threaded, so almost 1mm of play.....crap. The ARP bolts have shanks and are 10.63mm dia on the larger ones (forget the dia of the smaller one) so fit very well and are a vast improvement over the std setup IMO.

And fitting a dowel to the crank.....you'd do this with the engine in the car ? dont think so.

Glad to see it all buttoned up again Stu - should go well with higher CR pistons now

if its really rich you run the risk of bore wash - not good at the best of times but especially bad on a new engine - get yer mixture checked asap

yes - this is what destroyed Neil P's TB'd abf - Grunt Motorsport set it up so badly the engine ate itself
