Hi all can any other FR TDi 150 drivers let me know how much they are getting from a tank of derv please? including type of regualr journey.

Mate in work is always on about his Cupra Tdi never returning lower than 45mpg, but mine seems a liitle crap to be honest.

I just got 32 MPG (380miles) on a full tank of BP Ultimate Diesel, that was 80% round town driving (all 30MPH roads) and a short dual carriage way trip every day to work at around 70-80MPH

I never get the chance to do a majority all Motorway tank so can't really check for sure, I have looked at the instant MPG when on the motorway at 70MPH in 6th and it is on around 45-55 MPG along the flat, but drops to 25-30 ish when keeping the power on for inclines etc.

Do I need to get the Dealer to check it out?

Try changing fuel too. Mine dropped alot when using BP and i went back to Shell extra and found it was far better.
I drive 48 miles each way to work and often get 50+ on that journey covering A and B roads.

City driving is notorious for being thirsty work, so I would say your figures don't seem tooooo bad. Perhaps a tad low, but nothing drastic. A change of fuel might be in order though as that can have a big affect.

42mpg overall.

56mpg on my best run - slow 40odd miles on dual carrigeway.

38mpg-ish on work run - 15 or so miles - half dual carrigeway the rest town driving.

Although its starting to go up a bit, getting more used to the car, knowing how to drive it, etc.

I've been really booting my car over the last 6 months (constant high speeds over a long distance), and my ave MPG has dropped from around 52 to mid 40's.

Still get over 400 miles for £40 worth of juice though - although small journeys in towns will yield crappy figures (mid 30's)

If you're around town, you don't need to be out of 2nd and 3rd gear - use 4th and higher and MPG will suffer.

If i'm driving like normal around town. it's 30 to 35mpg. careful town cruising will see 45+.

Average tank is around 350 to 400 :) Motorways will see 500+ crusing at 85 or so.

Just had the car from Saturday. I have done about 100m of motorway in which the meter said 54mpg, I'm now on 410m of town and b roads in which I have drove sensibly with the odd bust to overtake or coming off roundabouts, the meter is reading 44.8mpg. So theres 410m from a full tank with a slightly above quarter of a tank left. That was using bp. Dont know haw the tank is shaped as some car I've own the gauge doesn't move evenly so the last quarter might not last the same as the rest. If you know what I mean.

Easy 600. Hard, 650. Venting I bet I could do 700 but never needed that mileage.

some may say lala land....
60 mile round trip for work - mix of fast A and slow A - get approx 45 with some gentle and some whelly
if i go special gentle, change at 1500 and never over that can easily get 55

generally overall i get 520+ out of tank and info light is 90% on at 490-500 and
that gives me another 30 till she stops and i walk

oh, i drive a cupra tdi - bog standard

I've got 60 from the light coming on before.

I've also run out of fuel twice.

Cheers fella's well I am bit less worried now anyhow :)

The car has only done 10500 miles so don't know if that will effect it, also it had it's 1st service @ 12 months when it had done around 7K when I bought it.

I will say that I get on the dual carriageway almost as soon as I leave my estate so I have about a quarter of a mile from my drive over 3 roundabouts until I get on the DC, so this morning I watched the instant MPG and at just above 70mph it was reterning around mid 40's MPG but half way down the DC it went up to mid 50's MPG dropping to mid 30's on pickup (Dual Carriageway is about 3 miles for my journey) at the end of this is another stretch of DC that is stop start, max of 10 MPH then same the other side of a roundabout to traffic lights to turn into work carpark. So another factor may be the engine never really warming up?

Other than that I drive around town all the time.

I always use either Asda or Morrisons Derv and nomally get around 390-400 miles per tank but the last tank I put BP ultimate in and as said only got 380 miles out the tank but did not do any journey longer than 15 mins for the whole tank.

Wouldnt bother about using instant mpg I would use average mpg it more of an indication of how the cars running also reset the milometer everytime you fill up, then checking exactly how many miles you did to a tank full etc

I've got 585 miles on a vented tank with some 60miles left on the range, and that was not being careful with the gas pedal. that was BP ultimate diesel, shells standard diesel is low sulpher fuel and imho naff, basically is contain bio diesel like supermarket fuels. The soot is heavy on shell fuel.

I was just using instant mpg to see what I get at 70mph on DC's to try and estimate what I would get with majority DC/Mway driving.

I always use the average MPG and reset all counters every time I fill up ;)

Last tank was 32 MPG and did around 380 Miles.
Will see what I get out of the next tank.

What is vented? is that press the little black button in to release all the air and carry on filling? isn't this dangerouse in the summer as this is there for expansion isn't it?

You need to search for venting.

MPG is down to your journey. Loads of people struggle to get 500miles from a tank.

My 600+ are due to my commute of 60miles each way. I sit on the M62 in 6th at 70mph. To do this I use the cruise as there is no way I'd be able to do it manually.
