LCR - 60k Service Cost (Cambs Area)

Afternoon everyone,

The 60k service is coming up rapidly on my LCR so I thought I would get a quote from a couple of places as to the likely cost.

I e-mailed my local Seat Garage who have advised £260 plus the cost of the Cambelt change. This reply had a caveat saying to bring the e-mail with me so they know how much to charge! Does this mean they decide on a price on an individual basis? I'm quite tempted to amend it to £100 and then print it out.... although that may lose the poor service girl her job!

As this is the final service under Warranty I really want to get it done at a main dealer in case anything un-expected comes up but just thought I would see if anyone can advise on what they have paid for a 60k service in the Cambs area so I can haggle my way down.

Cheers

£180 suggests a lubrication service only.

be warry, some will quote cheaper, as its a different service type.

ps, are you planning on changing the water pump and tensioner when you have the cam belt done?
its a popular and recommended job when doing the cambelt. as is using a brass impellor water pump not plastic as these can fail.

however dealers are not always competitive for this work, as they often quote the water pump and belt as seperate jobs. if they are done together at the same time it should be cheaper than doing jobs seperately.

My thoughts at the moment are;

Get a service done at the main dealer.

Then get the the following done at Jabba in P'boro the following month should the main dealer suggest a price much higher than the below:

We at Jabbasport prefer to replace the Cam Belt, tensioner and the idle wheel as appose to replacing the Belt we also like to do the procedure between 70K and 80K just as a precaution as we feel 120K is a little to late in the vehicles life.

All Genuine Parts used
Total Job Time 3Hrs
Price £245

It would be advisable to replace the Water Pump at the same time as this part is prone to failing

At an Additional cost of £55 including 15 Minutes of labour and Coolant

Just a thought, but why not ask Jabba for a price on the service and get it all done at once? You might save a few quid on the labour charges then and a decent VAG specialist is just as good to have on the service history IMO.

If this is Marshall, then run away. Run away quite fast. They're beyond shocking from every experience I've ever had with them (across several dealers on the Newmarket Road site).

The Seat dealer in Bury St Edmunds seems pretty good (car and 20k service from there) though.

I had my 60000 service done at JBS for £425 all in a few weeks back.

Waterpump/cambelt+tensioners, along with normal service.

Was cheaper by far than any others. Think the next closest was £530:blink:

you could always try TTS roadsport in bedford. it isn't that far from st.ives and they are competitive when it comes to pricing. if its servicing or stuff i can't do myself then i can trust these people to do the work and treat my car with respect.
