Yumann - you seen the flowbench results for the dahlback mani? :hide:

Intake_Manifold_Comparison.jpg

Bill, do you think it would be worth me changing the intake manifold instead of having my original one flowed? I have never thought about doing this. Would it be beneficial.

Your still on smallport tho yea? so options are smalport manifolds which would be matched to VF34 airflows.

imho, its not that much of a gain on a 300ish bhp car, but if you wanted to change, I dont think you would be dissapointed with jimmys 007 mani. (smallport)

I would still be more worried about IHI going kaboom rather than rods - especially if running high(ish boost).

Question to those that have been on the forum for a long time - how many IHIs have you seen fail compared to the number of chucked rods?

Thanks Bill, but by the sound of things i might aswell stick with the original intake mani and have it matched with the head, unless i am going large port.

You certaintly wont get bored, trust me, it is great fun, especialy in a little ibiza! :drive1:
If you do want more then rods should set you back roughly £500 plus valves at again about the £500 pound mark for a set of supatech valves. Im going on Jabba prices so if you shop around you might get them cheaper. I dont know with the pistons as they are different to mine so not too sure on there limits. I know mine are good for around the 400bhp mark. With this little lot done it should be good for around the 370bhp mark! :-o Is it the VF34.20 IHI unit your going for?

jabba are a total rip off with there parts!

i got:

83mm JE pistons (around 1.9ltr)
Scat 144 Rods with 20mm WP
A set of 20 Supertech valves, exhause valves are inconel and the intake are stainless steal nitrided coated.
Pelequin Diff with bolt kit
Spec stage 2 clutch
Headgasket for the 83mm over bore
8x spark plugs

The above came to £1760 posted inc 3% PayPal fees from the usa.

maybe check my post i made.

also getting the head gas flowed for the record.

I havent had it ported and polished yet. I will get that done whilst having the rods and valves fitted. I had an opportunity to purchase a large port head but i was told i would also need the cams.
Do you think i would benefit then going large port intead of having my original small port polished and ported?

Probably cos I can't take my own advice .... I'm not really that worried, just being cautious I guess. If I thought (or others who have experienced it) advised that it was the wrong choice I wouldn't have gone for it - but that's not the case.
