Hi all, new here!

Um going to have a loook at a Leon 20v T tomorrow, 180 bhp

04 reg with 15k on it, up for 11 grand, does this seem reasonable, it has leather so im expecting to pay a bit extra for this

Anyway, my question is about the standard specs of ther cars, do they all come with climate, traction control and 6 speeds gearbox, the description is vauge thats all

Also, sorry if its been posted hundreds of times, but; how thirsty are they? i currently have a clio 172 and it returs 33 ish mpg, will the seat better this or will i be filling up every other day?

I know that the car has more power than my clio, but its a lot heavier so i think it will not be as fast, but im going for safety this time around due to impending faterhood in a couple of months.

I have read on here a bit and pretty much everyone seems happy with their cars so hopefully ill be another happy seat owner!

Thanks

Ian

price wise its a little steep even with the leather as it dont make a huge difference on the used market standard trim is as follows
allround elecy windows, climate, front fogs ,17"alloys ,esp ,6speed elecy adjust mirrors n heated [foldin is optional so not on all] trip computer for mpg etc ,c/d multichanger altough i think it became single slot on later models and changer as option ,height adjustable front seats.
mpg is between 25 n 35 dependant on drivin as u said heavier along with bein turbo engine loses some mpg but good for what it is.

That's quite expensive mate. In fact, very expensive.

You can get LCR's for that money and less, without going into silly mileage territory. For instance, back in Oct I paid £10200 for a 03 LCR with 33k miles from a dealer, with warranty, tax etc.

Look in the For Sale forum here at some of private sales and I honestly think you can get a lot more for you money.

Cheers for the info, if the price is steep, what should i be looking to nock them down to?

Thanks

jesus!! that is WAY over priced! thats LCR territory

I would be paying NO more than 9k max for that.

have you considered an LCR - any reasons why you are just sticking to a LC...if you could afford 11k on your budget then that would certainly get you a very nice LCR off here, well looked after and from an enthusiast

definitely shop about on here and i am sure you could get a great deal

That does sound rather expensive!

If you can stretch your budget then have a look at this:

11K is definetely LCR territory as mentioned before. You are doing the right thing by ditching your Clio 172, my missus has one and stepping into an LCR will be like night and day! Don't get me wrong the 172 is a hoot to drive if you like thrashing your motor. If you do buy an LCR you will be amazed at the ease in which it pulls in any gear. I find that with the 172 you need to be forever changing down to find the correct gear to overtake wheras in my LCR overtaking is so easy it is literally laughable!:cartman:

Go for an LCR you will not be disappointed!

It won't rattle as much as your 172 either. Bonus!

 £11k for a LC - I thought this was a misprint at first.

You could get a LCR for that kind of price with change in your pocket. I also think the leather seats are nice, but get a LCR with Recaro's if possible, which is much better than the leather. Of course, if you are buying the LC to keep running costs down - you should be looking to pay around £9k max for a 2004 model.

Also, consider a Leon Cupra FR+ 150bhp Tdi (which will give good fuel economy with the same performance as the standard Leon Cupra as the diesel comes with better torque). Just another option to consider and it comes with a better interior than the Leon Cupra as well.

Cheers - Cobraman

How does one tell if you have folding mirrors, wilksy? I have a little picture on my electric window controls which seems to correspond with what the manual says is the folding position, however when I move the little joystick down there nothing happens. I can't hear any noise from the mirror, so whatever motors are in there (if any) don't seem to be working.

I assume though that if I didn't have folding mirrors then I wouldn't have the symbol on the mirror controls? Just want to see if it's something that's broken, or just an optional extra I haven't got.

what you should see is the knob at the top of the console above elecy windows then a vertical line above the knob
then obviously a pic of each mirror at a 45 degree angle to the knob [so 1 each side in effect] then if you have foldin mirrors a miror with an arrow below the knob. also the knob wont turn round to the bottom if you dont have folding mirrors, it is also common to find vag cars that have non foldin mirrors with the function. so i would say broken motor if mirrors dont fold.

your absolutly right that 11k is lcr money but not 04 04 forecourt lcr is 12500 to 13k aslo you got the fact that this lc is low on miles.
i have seen 03 03 for 9k or so a month or 2 a go which was private and my brother had an 03 03 16 months ago and struggled to 8500 for it.
his was yellow n the 9k 1 was black but thats over a year on

mate just turn the knob to fold the mirrors. dont need to pull or push

using the knob like a joystick only adjusts the mirror angle, dosnt effect the folding;)

The mirrors only fold in if the ignition is turned on. Car doesn't have to be started, but ignition must be fully on before it works.

bout the mirrors u should find that they will work even with the ignition off if uve just turned the car off, other than that ignition is needed ive also found the windows have a timer after switchin off aswell but this is just fron windows

Cheers for all of the replies guys....

I know it does seem a little expensive now that i have looked a little deeper into it, but theres always movement in the dealers price so hopefully ill get him down a grand or so

I would love a LCR but its the extra cost which has put me off, insurance would be a nightmare, and the petrol, which will be more. the overall reason im getting rid of my clio is that its a bit small and to be honest, the build quality is crap. always liked the cupra, but i think the LCR is a little out of my price range, not for the car, just the running costs

Cheers

have seen this mentioned a few times now about running costs for the LC and LCR

traumapat, i know i spoke to you a little while about this and the running costs you said even with your IHI are not different, well apart from petrol if you put your foot down, but maintenance is ok and very little failures, and yours is running over 300!!

of course the brakes etc are more expensive to maintain on the LCR, but what other significant differences are there in place to cost you alot more money over an LC?
