Not the BT5000 but I just went for the BT2500:
Looks sensible enough and hopefully won't look out of place on the dash as I like the way the Aura blends in. Couldn't live without MP3 playback any more and the AutoChanger is hit and miss whether it will play a CDR or not
On the subject of the Standard head unit why on earth has my 2001 car got a bloody tape deck anyway? when was the last time you saw tapes for sale!? 1997? and anyway how many people actually use them? *sigh*
Ordered the HU for £90 from Car Audio Centre who didn't have the fascia in stock so had to order that from Car Audio Direct for £9.95 (with free postage thanks to the sticky on here) and I refused to pay £15 or so on either of those sites for the aerial booster so bought that on ebay for £6.50.
All of which have spouted terms such as "Next Day Delivery" so they'll arrive for Monday then
I had said I wouldn't buy another Sony product after I spent £190 on a HU a couple of years back and it lasted all of 5 months before it died and had to be sent off for "2 Weeks", 5 weeks later it was back in the car for it to die only 3 or 4 months later. Worryingly the first fault was apparently a dry resistor joint which just made the thing go a bit mad and it wasn't until after it broke the 2nd time and I pulled it back out of the car that I noticed the technicians must have dropped it as there was a dent on the corner of the heatsink on the rear and inside the board had been snapped off on the corner (due to overtightening a mounting screw)
However... the specs and cost of the new HU were too good to miss but i'll be putting my guarantee somewhere safe
