Hi everybody. I just bought an '04 Ibiza Cupra TDI having part exed my old M3 'cos it was becoming a money pit. Very happy with the Cupra but I was checking over it today and under the sills on the metal runners(dunno proper term) there is sprayed paint on there. The cars yellow and so's the sprayed paint. In parts its congealed into drips. Is this normal or is it a sign of something more sinister. Bought it from a Seat garage. Any help would be appreciated.

welcome to the forum

mine is yellow too........don't panic

and I have the same

it is wax rust protector dripping out (cos they apply too much)

use some white spirit or petrol to remove it and you will find the yellow paint all rust free under the wax

good luck :p

Thanks mate. Thats reassuring. I'll give it a scrub when I can work up the motivation.

Other than that it's a great car. Coming from the beemer i wasn't expecting much tbh, I was just looking for a pokey diesel but its a good laugh and I'm having to restrain myself from sitting in the turbo zone all the time.:D

make sure you use some sort of solvent to remove it as scrubbing at it with an abrasive will fook the paint

by the way I think the part of the car you are talking about is called the sill yeah

they do go well don't they, loads of torque and good mpg too :)

No, I won't do it! You can't make me! I'm going to keep it standard. I bought it 'cos I wanted a sensible(ish) car and remaps lead to clutchs which will lead to suspension etc. Gotta keep it standard.:)
