No mate, is it one i got off one of the John Deere tractors at work :), they wont notice it gone..

I only clean mine twice a year, need to order some more solvent cleaner actually. Does the TIP hold it well, i always wondered how well it would sit with one on as that is on the shopping list of bits to get. Think i have seen a pic of yours actually, is it that drilled ali rod????

Yes, the TIP holds it fine at the MAF end. Not drilled ali-rod, perforated galvanised steel strapping.

I have this mental image of a lop-sided John Deere I need to get out of my mind. :D

Dynatwist has just one large mounting bracket that gets bolted onto the factory fitted mount on the drivers side suspension turret. Its solid and you'll never have any problems with it.

The mount on the suspension turret is flexible and the bracket that goes round the twister canister itself has a thick rubber lining. The connection from filter housing to MAF is made from pliable rubber and the rubber end of the TIP is pretty shock absorbant if you ask me. I see no reason to think the MAF would be subject to any more shock, probably a lot less than with the standard air box.

The mounting clamp on the RAM Air kit where it clips over the end of the MAF tunnel is a poor design in my opinion. All shock from the body of the car is transmitted directly to the MAF cylinder with this setup.

Sorry mate, I wasn't aware it was one you'd made yourself. The workmanship looks very good, its just the siteing of the bracket exposes the MAF tunnel to a lot of shocks.

I'll try to do a photo of the Dynatwist mount tomorrow. Because its balanced in the middle of the filter canister and mounted on a flexible bolt mounting, there's a lot less shock transmitted to the MAF cylinder. It also allows the filter canister to move slightly from side to side, this further reduces the stress on the MAF housing.

I understand. It sounds very similar to the way I have mounted my RamAir.

I completely agree with your last statement.

na thats fine mate i dont mind, if someone has a better design and can give me pics i will gladly think of making something else if it works better, just try and find pics of mounting brackets for air filters..lol, not many about that i could find! A pic would be good if you have one mate. :)

it wasn't the shocks actually damaging the MAF that was the problem for me it was the damage to the MAF housing so now the filter is sort of loose. the dynatwist attaches in the same place as the BMC kit on the nearside suspension turret so there will be no more damage to the MAF than if there was a standard airbox on there. i'll be getting the BMC kit as i've heard they sound good and they look the business too........... when funds allow that is!

You can buy the DynaTwist bracket seperately so if it fits on the RAM it might we well worth buying one :) .

If got a few images, can anyone recomend where i can store my images online so i can insert them in to posts??

BMC is a good looking filter and probably the only one I'd consider, but noise aside, you get so little for your money I just can't bring myself to buy one.

Here's a photo of the Dynatwist in-situ. The bracket is just a big hoop with a bolt through the closed end.

Cheers Ross :) im sure i can make something very similar to that, or i could just be lazy and contact dynatwist as someone said and buy one...is that an extra rubber section at the back of the air filter too? or is that an aditional modification?

The pipe at the larger, engine end of the filter looks incredibly pinched, that can't be great for airflow?

I tried to buy a mounting bracket for my Dynatwist but couldn't get one anywhere, I ended up making one myself using flat ali bar from B & Q
