Looks like a good effort, nice one! As for performance, it can't be any worse than the stock set up so its got to be good. No doubt you'll get a barrage of people telling you you've wasted your time and should have just went to Forge

All this nonsense about comparing custom coolers to Forge etc is wrong IMO. Its like comparing a k03s upgrade to a big Garret upgrade. You don't get people saying "oh theres no point at all in a ko3s because you'll never get the same gains as going big turbo". But for some reason, theres alot of "custom coolers are a waste of time, they'll never be as good as Forge". If i had access to mandrel bending i'd be knocking one up for mine.

Car modding is (or should i say "was") all about trying new things with alot of DIY involved, nowadays its all about throwing money at some company and getting them to bolt bits on.

Ive been thinking about making a custom intercooler very similar to the one you have done only i might go a little bigger if i can.

At the moment i have a Laguna fmic and also run water injection which means my intake temps are nearly always below 20 degrees so I'm not going to improve on that!! But i cant help thinking that i may be able to get better airflow from an intercooler that has the inlet and outlet on the sides rather than the inlet and outlet being at the rear of the cooler like the Laguna or Forge intercoolers.

thanks guys yeh i totally agree on your comment beaker, the whole idea of me doing a custom FMIC was that it is as it says custom, custom to my car how ive done it, it feels much better and im going to put vagcom on when i get the chance, i had fun doin and and when it was all finished i took it out and got great satisfaction that everything was ok, like you say most people spend the hundreds on tuning companies products when it can be done by urself if you have the time patience and obv skills (not being big head but i just mean i work in a garage so im used working on cars etc...)

Beaker I couldnt agree more! There's more satisfaction in standing back and looking at what you've achieved!

Just waiting for my cooler then I can knock up some pipe work on the CNC mandrel benders at work! :funk:
