Just got my blueflame exhaust which has taken nearly 2 weeks to arrive.
Before it gets fitted I thought I'd try the magnet test and ALOT of it is magnetic! I know it is probably stainless but only stainless that is more prone to rust is magnetic.
What guarantee do they give as this was not something I was expecting to come up and I did not check?
Is anybody elses blueflame magnetic?

Mmm, that dosnt sound good. IIRC lower grades of stainless will be magnetic. As you say, a higher iron content means it may well rust quicker :(

Cost me £525 but I know they are kind of custom fabricated abit like powerflow.
Lots of people on here gave very good reports about them so I was not really expecting this.
Really need to know what guarantee is given with it to be honest?

£525? Is that just cat-back? I know there are good reports about them but if they're not giving you the better grade stainless then its a bit of a poor show really.

No that is turbo back full system with a little discount. Consider that 2modified wanted £550 with a little discount and JBS wanted £602.50 with a 15% discount, they said RRP was £706.75 so going direct to Blueflame saved me a wedge!
Just slightly worried now with its magneticness! LOL!

I thought the reason everyone was buying Blueflame was because they were a lot cheaper than Miltek and Supersprint?

Obviously this would be a reason as to why they are cheaper....

Do you know what guarantee came with your exhaust Empi5

There is a lifetime guarantee as long as you remain the owner of the car, whether it covers for rust will be down to them i suppose,

Ive already had mine repaired by Blueflame for a cracked downpipe.

Cool. Peace or mind really! Lifetime guarantee means exactly that so any rust within the next 3/4 years which is the max time I'll keep the car and I'll go knocking for a replacement!

Telford ay it...
Grade t304 is it that exhausts are made out of? I used to work in the manufacturing industry and we always used a higher grade. T304 was seen as unsuitable for our applications (Foundry and materials handling equipment).

Nope I mean pipes boxes. ALOT of it! Its weird because on the downpipe and cat section there are many small pieces of pipe welded together and some of the bits of pipe are magnetic and others are not! The cat most definately is not stainless though I think as its the most magnetic part and when I accidently dropped the magnet and it landed on it it stuck instead of bouncing off!

304 is a proper austenitic (and therefore not magnetic) stainless steel, this'll be what decent exhausts are made from. Well, the straight bits anyway, if they have their own bender, the bends will probably be 304 too, if not, the bends will most likely be 316 ("Dairy Grade")

Ferrtic stainless are all the grades starting with 4XX. Just because it's ferritic, doesn't mean that it's "bad" quality, just not as "good" as a full austenitic one.

Get what you pay for though. 316 Mandrel Bends in 2.5" are around £5-10 each, and they're GOOD prices (well, so Saul tells me ;-) )

If it's magnetic around the welds, they've probably used the wrong filler (welding rods). Should be 308 on 304 (from memory)

This is worrying but as long as it has a lifetime guarantee I think its ok. If something goes wrong with something I'm good at making enough of a pain for whoever it is that supplied it to sort it out just so I leave them alone! LOL!

Empi5 how old is your exhaust? How did the downpipe split?

About 18 months old, plenty of info on here about them fella, there was a design fault (incorrect welds depending on who you speak to ) on the original batch, that has now been corrected, (hopefully )

They've got their own benders, Phil.
