Blueflame Downpipe and CAT – Leon Cupra R

cuprarob

Guest
Hi,

I am looking to buy a downpipe and CAT for my Leon Cupra R and I was wondering how people are finding the Blueflame item.

After searching if seems that people have had mixed success, but most of the problems were with the early design.

So, what should I lookout for and from your experience would you buy the Blueflame again?

Any feedback before I purchase would be much appreciated.

Does anyone have the Blueflame DP and CAT with a Supersprint CAT back?

Many thanks
Rob

Had my full B/F system fitted last week. Sounds awesome mate. Much better than the supersprint or magnex jobbies in my opinion and yes i have seen both in the flesh, not soundclips. I know of one person who pulled his supersprint off and changed for a blueflame because he prefurred it. I also think the BF oval tailpipe is better looking than the magnex option, i think that looks a bit small imo. But i have noticed a real performance gain too, pulls so much better, and top of the rev range it dont seem to run out of puff so easily. When i had the system fitted the garage commented on how well the system was put together and how well it all fitted into place.

I know that sounds a bit biast but thats my opinion, hope that helps you a bit fella to come to a decision....

This the cheap one your on about? Its very different to the BF ones as the DP Cat and pipe are all one lump, its like the old AM system that lost power on the cars. The BF one has a bolt in cat so you can change it when its fooked.

You can get the full BF system for around £600 and if your not going silly power there well worth it

£525 plus 15 quid delivery they quoted me the other week....

Disagree with you there completely, the supersprint is a quality made exhaust
(£400ish just for a catback) it sounds nice, looks nice and fits well into the bumper design, it actually follows the curve of the back of the car! Its imported and manufactured in Italy and uses top grade steel in manufacture.

The BF systems are the complete opposite, cheap and unreliable. they have had their fair share of problems with DP's cracking etc.

I have the BF 3'' DP/100 cel cat mated upto a supersprint catback, and when it is started up from cold, it sounds all tinny and raspy to me. Supersprint cat back before always sounded lovely:)

Once warmed up, it does sound nice but on cold starts i just dont like it. As to performance difference, probably about 5bhp max from it.

If supersprint made up the rest of the set with cat/downpipe at an affordable price then i'd be taking the BF off and swapping it.

Didn't really think much of it when it was fitted about 3-4mths ago and still dont now tbh.

thats weird what you say about the cold start tinny/raspy sound mitch!

reason why i say that is because i have heard a few LCRs with the FULL BF system like mine and not one has had this cold start problem!

sounds to me that the BF/supersprint combo isnt the best?!

i dont know, i just know i LOVE my system even after all the hassle i have been through, which you know about!

I have to admit, I'm torn when it comes to the BF system.

Part of me is seriously tempted as it's a cracking price for a full system, it looks good and by all accounts, it sounds good.

But the repeated stories of poor build quality, cracks, poor welds etc really puts me off. I think I'd rather pay more for the peace of mind of knowing I have a quality product. But then you come back to money and it all starts over again

rob put it this way... if i had another LCR id go for a BF system again  ...

i feel i was one of the ginnie pigs with their system (not the A&M one!) and i was the first one to have the 3" DP... im now on my 3rd one and because of me they completely changed the design of the old one! (tho if they had welded the original design CONSISTENTLY better and used a brace for extra support it would have been fine! trust me i know! ;))

also change your DB mount aswell to help reduce engine/dp flex! ;)

hope this helps! lol

Cheers James :)

The DB mount is being changed when the car goes in for it's 40k service @ JKM ;)

As for the BF... it's reassuring to know they have changed the design in light of the problems people have had. It would be interesting to know if anybody who has purchased the full BF system in the last year has had any problems? If not, that would suggest the changes they have made have cured the early 'development' problems.

I'd go for something tried and test as mitchy says.

I've had my miltek for about 3 years now and never once had a problem with it. Well worth the money.
