Having loaned my P21-S Carnuaba wax to a mate, I was forced to use a "lesser" wax on the car this weekend. I found a bottle of Meguiars Gold Class in the cellar and got to work. While it takes a lot more effort with this wax, the results were surprisingly good IMO.

The car is treated with Carlack-68 and Optimum Car Wax over the top as an extra sealant layer. Normally topped off with P21. The car isn't perfect but its in a damn sight better shape than it was when I got it after being in the clutches of a "careful lady owner" .

I remember Iain (Finerdetails) mentioning to me that Gold Class liquid wax has some cleaners in it - its not a pure wax like Jeff's or P21s. So I wouldn't be surprised if it has removed some or all of whatever was underneath during its application.

Looks nice in the pictures.

Quite possibly mate, its a bitch to remove compared to P21s. I'll be re-applying the Carlack-68 with P21s over the top this weekend. Still impressed with the clarity and reflectiveness of the Megs Gold Class though.

If it was hard to remove you have probably put a little too much on, super thin layers is the key (like any wax).

Thanks mate. I think a nice clean and shiny car says a lot about the driver. I think you usually find that somebody willing to put the time and effort into detailing their car will look after it mechanically also.

Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Thanks for the kind comments everybody.

I did use as little wax as possible while ensuring even coverage. I didn't mean it was hard to remove, it just doesn't glide off like P21s does.
