Ok, so you can tell just by carrying them out to the car that 2-piece discs are much lighter than the standard LCR discs ...

... but has anyone else noticed the difference on the car ?

I think it's unsprung weight (ie. bolted to the wheels which are in direct contact with the road rather than above the dampers on the car) which I'm on about, but not in any race-handling way. Just simple stuff like coming down off speedhumps (with coilovers) and I've checked my tyre pressure about 3 times in the last fortnight cos I'm convinced the ride feels softer. [B)]

cos its unsprung weight it has to be excelerated up whenever you hit a bump and controled down! when you reduce this your suspension can work better and car excelaration ma be improved also but not sure you actually notice this? this all susposes I can remember what I got taught 20 year ago!

In my eyes they made a huge difference but mainly to stopping power rather than "Comfort factor". With regards to comfort i find my self stopping allot later and tip toeing over big bumps still so not really seen there advantages here.

They were however nearly half the weight of the old ones!

they are significantly lighter yes, which is nice..
steering feel feels lighter, less gyro effect from less weight, similar but to a lesser extent to fitting bigger/heavier wheels.

Better heat dissipation being one of their main advantages over one piece disks.

Out of interest ;) What's the price different between normal Brembo replacement discs and a set of 2-piece discs? And is the life expectancy of them any difference under normal road use?

You would be comparing £226 std disk (plain pair) to £499 2-piece disks/bells/bolts

replacement rotors & bolts there on in as consummables.
£135+vat disk, £12.95+vat bolt kit

Cooler running disks, lighter, so if your existing setup runs hot, blues up the disk, boils brake fluid, then these are the next step.

(nothings indestructable tho)

Bill out of intrest would your rotors fit my AP racing bells?

mine are AP pattern fixings on 12 bolt 203.2mm PCD with 6.4 hole fixings (same as AP)
That said, someone else on here ordered replacement disks for this "AP" pattern to fit their bells (Jabba?) and they were different PCD's. Mine are 100% AP fixings as thats what I started with and drew them up form AP's catalogue information.

Jabbas are 330's (well sold as but i never got the tape measure out)
So i could use your rotors in theory but there maybe an issue

I had the AP ones from Jabba - they are 323mm. The mounting bell is a smaller diameter than Bill's 330mm discs - presumably because of the different disc size. The pcd is the same but the AP mounting bell isnt large enough. Wasnt that impressed with the AP discs - had to send them back to be inspected and skimmed at one point. They did last 30k miles though including 2 track days at Knockhill and a day at the Nurburgring. Just bedding in my new discs just now so cant really compare but they certainly seem quieter.
