Ive found Cheap front mounts

Obvioulsly people have seen these on ebay. Has anyone bought one from this bloke or not? They seem really cheap and have the inlet and outlet on the same side. Opinions please

Blimey, that is very cheap! If you look in his shop he has the same sort of thing but with inlets and outlets on opposite sides, so ideal for the LCR.

Has anybody ever heard of this fella before? Any feedback from other forums or owners perhaps?

You'll need to modify your own crash bumper.
You'll need some custom samco hoses that are made in the right shape to fit it.

Otherwise you'll probably be good to go.
No proof of how good they are though, so might not yeld the best results. For example, if the IC is too big your radiator will get 0 cooling, and your car will overheat, thus impeding performance. Bit of guesswork though, as your not purchasing a tried and tested product.

i think what you need to be thinking of is overall cost/time/effort.

A Forge/Neuspeed unit, complete with all parts, and guaranteed, will set you back £700 ish. Or less in a group buy, sometimes down to £600ish.

One of those, £140, + labour + custom ali or samco hoses, + welding on crashbar, + time and effort to work it all out, will probably cost just as much, or for the savings, hardly seem worthwhile.

Furry nuff. Might be worth you posting your efforts/findings as you go, so that anyone else going down the same route has ideas.

Lots of people have been looking at this, in the past - whether or not they've done it - and would be good to know how you get on.
I'd certainly go down the hard-pipe route though - as it's gonna be hard to source samco's.

wud agree pabs nice chunking shiny pipes down there as the samco wud be a bit more fiddly to get the right lenghts bends etc, we'll she how it goes with pay in march and i mite give it a blast!

It is not to hard geting silicon pipe made to order so would not be to worried about that, more concerned about how it mounts to the body etc.

Is it worth talking to the guy and getting him to do a kit, Intercooler, pipes mountings and diagrams for sorting your own bumper.

If cooler is £120 @ £40 for pipes, something towards diagrams, say £200 o rthe lot, seems good to me and a lot cheeper than forge.

Don't get me wrong I am sure the Forge stuf is good VFM but more than I am willing to pay for a mildly modded LCR

IMO the Forge is NOT good vfm, for the components alone - its all the research and development that have gone into it that push the price up.
Luckily I got my FMIC on a good deal, so I'm not bothered either way

There are loads of companies on the 'bay that do hard piping kits for intercoolers, and a load more who do silicone stuff.

Its a relativley easy process. Its just mounting it on the crash bar.

same here pabs.can't see why they are so bloody expensive,surely they have covered R&D on an intercooler for the 20vt by now,mostly are just a few tweeks here and there,to performance and fit.
i have a TIP to fit ,but again 100 odd quid for a piece of silicone hose.

the laguna one seems to work on the ibiza,it just needs a bit of a gamble to see if this will perform well.

does it "need " fitting to the crash bar?
do they all fit to it?
vrs has a vast expanse between rad and rear of bumper.i'm thinking of fitting it into the bumper rather than bolt it to the car.

you got it Jase - i really just can't justify spending all that dosh.
Trouble is - i've gambled with trying to do things cheaper in the past, and it didnt get me very far.

+ I don't have the time to faff around sourcing all the seperate bits, only to find it doesnt work as well.

But then if nobody does the faffing around, nothing new would appear. I'll just sit back and let the others do the hard work - once done and proven to work - i'll hop on board

I bought a fmic of this ebay seller. I never got around to fitting it as i decided to go another route. But the quality of the intercooler was superb, quick delivery as well
