I have had my Leon since Tuesday 30th of January
Today while going for a drive in my car
The fuel gauge went stright to zero
the car kept going as a few moments before it read half a tank
so pulled into a fuel station and filled it up 25.00 pounds of fuel
started my journey back home. fuel gauge shown full and the display now said i could do 2000 miles on my tank of fuel Yes 2000 miles
after 5 miles the fuel gauge went back to zero
phoned my local Seat garage and they hopefully will be looking at it tomorrow (saturday)
Wondered if any one has had any problems like mine with the fuel gauge

Thor (sad that his Leon is playing up)

Can i ask what was the fix as this has now happened to me, exactly the same, full or halfway reading then to empty, sometimes check light on sometimes not, plus reading 2000 miles in tank when refilled.

There is no conclusion in this thread so could you please post answer?

Thanks

Hi MrT

My local Seat garage replaced the fuel sender in the tank
and it fixed the problem first time

Thanks for posting reply and my apologies for not responding but been away workng and then again out of the country on holiday, so have not been at home lately......:headhurt:

Car went back into stealers today and no answer from them so far, they replaced the fuel level sensor initially and said ok, personally i'm at a loss because the symptoms are exactly the same as yours and they performed the same fix originally........

I will update as to the ultimate outcome as it may help others in the future, albeit that it seems this is a very rare issue....

Hey Guys,

It's worth searching the Ibiza Mk4 section for this as several of us have had this problem and it always seems to return back to the Dash module.

This is a £500+ fix in an Ibiza. If you have any warranty left, get to the dealers and get them to fix it pronto.

Between us we have tried the earth and the fuel tank sender. It always goes back to the clocks.

Thanks for the reply Gruffs very useful

Car is back in the stealers at the moment and all is leading to dash pod being at fault, tank sender unit replaced and no fault codes, just waiting for Seat to get their finger out and confirm it is the dash pod.

Car still has two years warranty left so i'm not panicking, just want the damn thing fixed...........

Just thought i would give an update as this may be an issue for the future.

Car still in the stealers, tank sender changed and dash pod changed.....result, no change.........fuel level reading the same as before...

It would appear that the fault lies between the tank and the dash, maybe! If so it's going to take some fault finding....

Thing is, the relief car the dealer has given me is an unimpressive effort, 1.6 petrol Altea, basic in the first degree....
