I was with Endsleigh, who eventually told me they couldn't insure the remap. So when I had it done, I switched to Budget. Fully declared, I'm now paying considerably less than I was before with the standard car.
As always, the advice is the same: Shop around.
If you're referring to Endsleigh (which you highlighted in my text), then my experience with them is exactly opposite to yours. The only time I've ever been involved in an accident, they handled everything very efficiently and organised the court action against the other driver (which we won convincingly). My car was repaired quickly and to my complete satisfaction (the paint match was astonishingly good - it was an unusual colour on an old car, so it must have faded, but still the new bonnet was a perfect match). That my friend is the biggest mistake you ever made...i could write a book on their inaccuracies, and failings to provide adequete cover..maybe one day after my several ongoing legel disputes with them are done i will
Cost me an extra £50 for 8 months to have me Beefa FR TDI 130.
I paid £490 at the beginning, so would be like £565 for the whole year.
I'm 23, 3 years NCB.
