Looks Like I'm Selling My MK3 Ibiza Cupra, But Which New Leon?

I'm under pressure from my other half to sell my much loved MK3 Ibiza Cupra which I just love to bits. She is four and half years old now so it probably does make sense.

I always assumed my next car would be an Ibiza, probably the FR, given I've owned 3 Ibizas now.

However, it looks like I'm going to run the bigger car while my other half goes smaller which are down to reasons various reasons like his small commute and my bigger one, so that means looking at a Leon for me and an Ibiza for him.

I want to go diesel this time and I guess I'm considering the FR or the Reference Sport BTCC inspired Leon. Both are much more than I wanted to spend on my next car. Mayve I should just look at the bog standard TDi.

I love sporty cars, I love driving, I love SEATs. I'm not in modifications though.

Think we're going for a little look later today.

Any advice for a confused girlie?

Sorry, should have said, will be going for a new car.

I did love the MK1 though. If this had been 12 months ago, that is deffo what I would have had, no question.

I don't know much about the new Leon I'm afraid but I'm sure somebody else will come along in a minute who does.

Have you considered Skoda Fabia vRS, Octavia TDi, Octavia vRS TDI??

I am assuming you will be trading in the Ibiza Cupra? If so I would consider putting the details of your Ibiza on here because they are quite sought after. There are always new posts in the wanted section for them, it will put you in a better position as a buyer as well.

Well the main difference between the FR and the other TDi's is obviously the power and economy do you need that much?

Others things are slightly different, like FR bagding and bumpers, and different colour seats! (but the same seats).

I do like the Fabia, but sadly that will be too small, not too keen on the Octavia, plus the boot will be better on the Leon.

I think we're hoping on buying two new cars so sticking to the same make might give us a better deal...plus we do love love our SEATs having owned 6 of them over the last ten years!

But yes, will be selling the Cupra and knew that it would be better as a private sale rather than a trade in with the garage.

You've hit the nail on the head really, what do I need? Really for the boring commute I have, I need nothing more than a Micra! But hey, it is nice havingthe power there when you want it, plus I drive up and down to the Lake District a fair bit.

Economy wise, anything will be better than the Ibiza given it is diesel, but heck, the Ibiza was pretty good to me.

I guess it is just time to go for a look, see the different cars and chew over the fat really.

The Octavia has a MUCH bigger boot than the leon. I went for a Leon 2.0tdi Ref. sport as I wasn't worried about the extra boot space. But if boot space is a priority then look at the Octavia, it has a cavernous boot.

The Octavia I guess just doesn't really do it for me, I much prefer the Leon.

How do you like your Sport?

Love it mate!
As the sport isnt around anymore, I believe the 'Stylance with sport pack' is the same thing now. :)
Basically you get all the toys of the FR without all the 'FR' bits, and alot cheaper I assume.

have a chat with your local dealer and see what they have to say, Might be good to compare engines as well.

Went to our garage this afternoon. Most of the time was spent looking at Ibizas for my other half as that is the biggest priority.

Didn't really have any time to look at the Leons as it was getting dark and the garage was about to shut.

But is some ways, I'm totally confused. I think I want gadgets and gizmos and style etc. if you know what I mean, just don't want to pay the price of an FR.

We're now even talking about owning two MK4 Ibizas - me having the FR and him having the 1.2 Reference Sport.

Who knows. I still have a hankering for a Leon I guess. Will pop back to the garage at some point this week to have a look I think.

Decisions, decisions...
