Hi all
on way home from work yesterday my temp guage went up to 120 and red light started flashing and car was beeping(was 20 secs from home so carried on)

Waited till engine cooled down checked water level it was empty, topped it up with water and ran the car for 30 mins no water coming out anywhere no overheating at all. drove to the garage to get some petrol up went the guage 120m again beep beep beep, got home looked under car could i see any water? could i ****.

Got up early(to check water) this morning before work, none in the expansion bottle so i topped it up drove to work just getting to work and guage went up and car went beep beep beep:confused:

I didnt have time to look at the car so i phonned my mates mechanic he came and took the car away phonned me 2 hours later said he found the problem it was the thermostat jamming it would cost me £80 Parts And Labour. i said go ahead and do it:cry:

he brought the car back to my place of work for me to drive home and said the problem aint solved i said:wtf: do you mean it aint solved:confused:

anyway it now has a new thermostat all pipes are getting hot apart from the one from the bottom of the rad,the fans are cutting in and it seems that the water was coming out of the expansion bottle due to the back pressure,so what now:confused:

Answers Please

Thanks In Advance:funk:

dead water pump.

Common - search for it on here.

Water pump means cambelt has to come off - so cambelt, tensioner and water pump should all be replaced. Basically its a 60-70k service.

Be looking at about £250+ for the job done mate. (inc parts) Probably about 4hrs labour minimum.

Make sure you get a METAL/BRASS impellar on your new water pump - the plastic standard ones are so weak they break easily.

Dunno if it's still on there, but there was a tensioner on eBay (the only real reason you need a new cambelt kit) so if you're friendly with a local/back-street mechanic they could probably fix your pump and just refit the belt with a new tensioner.
