Just wondering, would a REVO stage 2 Re-Map increse top speed or just acceleration? i have a TDI at the mo thats chipped and it gets to 130 quicker than before but no faster. what would i need to sort out to gain a tad more top end speed? (1.8 T Sport)

aerodynamics & gearing have more effect on top speed....

that and your wheezy turbo will be flat out at roughly 130 anyway

Top speed is more than just power, its also about gearing. If you can hit the rev limiter in top gear with the power you have, no extra amount of power will make you go any faster.

If you can't hit the limiter in top gear now, then more power will help you overcome the exponential increase in drag until you do runs out of revs. Only way then would be to change the gearing - i.e. final drive ratio.

Edited - M0rk beat me to it!

cheers guys. was just wondering.

is deff to much hard work to rip out gear box and replace 6th gear with a higer ratio cog lol

wont be doing that in a ............. ever

how much does the 0-60 time decrease then on a stage 2?

Ita a load of hassle and expense. Why are you so worried about increasing the top end? Is it to brag about in the pub?

If you were to shell out and change your final drive to up the top end, you would do so at the expense of your acceleration, so I think you need to change your focus! You can have acceleration, or top end, not both (ignoring supercars).

no i totally agree, and thats what i was saying, its too much hassle. and not worth the time or money, reason ahh well funny u should say about braggin in pub, cause i work in a pub and a mate of mine has a bike with a limited speed of 155, i was saying to him if i could get my car to 160 i could beat him, i know their is no way on earth im gonna beet him 0-100, so i thought maybe on the long stright i could take him, but yet again it seems i gotta bye a bike (better than his)

fit a LCR gearbox. six thousand revs in sixth is a bit more than 130. i haven't ever hit the limiter in sixth either, lack of power and aerodynamics put a stop to that i think!

I have to be the one to ask (can't help myself)....
Will you ever get above 130mph in it? often enough to make it worthwhile modding the engine to acheive it.
I very rarely go above 100 in mine and knowing it gets there quicker with a map than it did without one is nice ;)

Ok so I think I confused ppl, 130 mph is my top speed in my 110 chipped TDI.

I was asking about going faster in my 1.8 T 20V Sport wasn’t gonna mod anything just gonna get a remap, but as I was gonna get it done I just wondered if I’d earned bragging rights with this guy I work with (at a pub) against his bike, but with out pulling the car to pieces the answer is still a big fat NO!

1.8 t 20v, remapped. You'll be looking at 145+ on GPS. Bit more on clocks. This is purely flat out driving, which is most cases is irelevant.

The only bikes I know that may be limited in terms of top speed are BMWs.
They're not particuarly fast motorbikes, (in comparison to some of the Jap and Italian ones at least). Even so there isn't really anything you could do to beat any bike that is capable of 150mph +. If you really shortened the gearing and doubled your engines power output you might be able to keep up till about 50 or so, but after that you'll get eaten. Even a 600 I had could do 0-100mph in 7 seconds and you can count the number of production cars in the world that can do that on the fingers of one hand and have fingers left over.
