key programming cd

hi

was wondering if anyone here have brought a new or second hand key fob and tried reprogramming the chip on the key and door lock. i saw an ad on ebay for a cd that shows you how to programme the key but was wondering if its easy to do. i been charged £70 to get a new key reprogrammed

there is gazillions of threads about it, so save yourself the £5 and get searching

IIRC the information on how to program the remote part of your key to open your doors, is in the cars user manual and is a sequence of turning the ignition this way and that and pressing buttons on the fob (works a treat, done it on mine). But to get the immob chip in the key to sync with the car (in order for the key to actually start the engine) you have to take it to the dealers. No way around it.

The quide for sale on ebay is more than likely just the info found in your user manual.

ways round how to do the immobiliser yourself do you mean. i tried searching for it on here but alot of the threads just talk bout synchronising the door lock. nothing on bout how to programme the chip

you need your SKC code.......

if you have a pre 2002 car its a 4 digit one.... and if you have that it is easier to programme keys..

i read up in previous forums that its supposed to be on a tag with the spare key? if thats so then i think i lost it. what do i do after i have this code

you can program new keys with new transponders in them via Vag.com program.....

check out the ross tech website and search SKC.

If you check out the many threads on here at the moment all will become clear!

Got a cable with vagcom, cant find software only on ebay. What software is needed?

u need a different cable pal.....u can't use a standard vag.com cable
