Going to be changing the clutch in the Cupra over the next few weeks, just wondered what options have people gone for them replacing theirs? I know of:

- Standard + Skim Fly Flat
- G60 Fly, VR6 Clutch + Pressure Plate
- XTD G60 Clutch, XTD G60 Pressure Plate + G60 Flywheel

Can anyone think of any others? Does anyone run any of the above? If so, how do you rate it, feel, hold, any clutch slip? Ideally after a clutch that will cope with up to ~400bhp.

Also anyone know if the G60 fly, clutch and plate set up will work OK as normally you heard of it been G60 fly w/ VR6 clutch and plate.

Cheers for the help!

I need to replace my clutch soon as its started slipping, dont think its going to be worth upgrading though as im only gonna have a max of 270 ish lbs and 240bhp from my k03s, ive searched on euro car parts and found 2 for the mk3 cupra, a 228mm and a 220mm which one should i get?

228 apparently is the later model which should fit yours mine is a X reg car and comes with 220 so ive been told. 228mm just gives a bit more gripping power iifc if you do a search i think i brought this up a while ago.

228mm is G60/ABF/VR6 size - all are 228mm clutches.

G60 flywheel instead of dual mass jobbie, and then selection of 228mm clutches commonly listed for G60/VR6

I run G60 flywheel (lightened) with 228mm VR6 SPEC Stage 3+ clutch currently, previously running Helix equivalent.

zero slip ever.

more g'box chatter on idle however.

I can supply SPEC and ACT clutches if req'd

regards
bill

Cheers for the responses guys, before making this topic I had settled on the idea of replacing the dual mass for a single mass flywheel after seeing the state of some dual mass flys once removed.

It's nice to know that I can choose from a range of G60 & VR6 clutches without worrying about the fitment.

Anyone got experience with XTD clutches, any good?

Also, G60 flywheels where are people getting lightened ones from? Would you bother with a lightened one or stick with a standard one. Without searching (cause I'm sure I can do that) does anyone know the weights of the dual mass ibiza one, standard G60 one and the weight of a lightened G60 flyweel.

Ta very much!

how noisy is a lightened flywheel supposed to be as i have been thinking about this route myself but i don't want a unbearable rattle from the flywheel all the time:confused:

Karl, I'm in the same boat trying to find out just how light they are compared to the stdnard item as you also compramise torque with a lightened flywheel.

Ta for the reply Guy, but ideally I'm after a performance clutch and couldnt find one on the site.

the lightened flywheels dont rattle... if they do you have bigger problems :p

the lightened mass of the G60 flywheel just makes the g'box input shaft chatter a bit more on idle in neutral in my experience. nothing when you are actually driving it.

Ahh right, I was going to say gearbox rattle is never good but idle chatter I can live with, aslong as it's not wearing anything when doing it.

Did you notice any improvements with the G60 flywheel, or any losses in torque?
