Hi All

I have a LCR 225-(black) have a couple of questions need answering. I have bought a front strut brace am i ok to just drill & tap or do i have to bolt it on? I am also wanting to change my air filter box for a performance one, can anybody recommend.

Mods done: Blue Flame full exhaust, revo 1, stainless steel bonnet stay, rear fabia wiper, full window tints.

It has to be drilled in to the struts if its a OMP one. i'd get some stronger bolts to as the self tappers provided aren't that strong from what i've been told.

You'll need some proper drill bits. It's about 6mm of steel for the ones at the front. Not too much at the back. Bolt and a nut aint too hard, just jack the car up and it's easy to get you hand under. You may be able to get enough just by turning the wheels on full lock. Never heard of raceland but cant imagine it being too diff to any other brace.

I'd get a dynatwist for noise / value (if there is such a thing as vfm for an air filter) or a bmc-cda if you like the subtle look as it's black instead of silver and quieter. I dont like the ram-air kit. Make sure to get a 80mm maf end.

Then get revo stage 2.

I think stage 2 is £549+VAT - Stage 1 is probably £399+VAT. (I THINK)

Depends on what filter you get - BMC-CDA & Dynatwist, as well as replacement panel filters from Green Filters are the main choices. Prices from about £40-200.

If using bolts for the strut brace, you won't be able to tap the chassis, as they'll just strip when you put them in and it won't hold the strut brace, making it useless. You'll need nuts on the other end of the bolts, or perhaps use riv-nuts like i did.

For £50 if you've got the bits revo stg 2 is well worth it as it spreads the power out over the rev range meaning more grip.
From nottingham i'm guessing a trip up to jbs at chesterfield? If your just after lowering and a better ride than maybe some koni FSD's and eibach lowering springs should do you right. If you want/need adjustability ie coilovers FK's are alright (i'd get the stainless ones so they dont rust) as long as you buy from a vag specialist as the official supplied fit wont fit as an lcr has a tt front and a golf rear. If you want to spend more maybe bilstens or KW V2's (if you like a firmer ride).

It will always be a lard arsed family hatch tho. It will be better but dont expect miracles.

BTW jbs arent revo dealers so you'll have to get that done elsewhere.

I was quoted £50 to have syage 2 put on after already having stage 1 (That was from Revo delarer) obviously thats not including the parts (FPR, DP Cat etc)

yes mate. see my next post in the thread... i corrected myself :)

£50 extra for the s/w - but you need to purchase all the other parts first (IMO - to get the best out of it)

EDIT - Bigjode - you seem to have deleted your post..... dammit :bleh:

I'm still in two minds about getting an upper strut brace. I'm also wanting a short shift kit, but on an 03 plate it's getting on and TBH not worth the funds. Just servicing costs etc are enough.

03 plate is not that old! lots of people spend loads on older cars, I want a 93-95 Toyota Supra so I can spend loads to get 600bhp!!

Why not look at getting the Audi S3 upper brace :) £136.77 all in fitted inc VAT
