Just wondering if anyone has had the same probelm as I've just found on my 2003 LCR...

Engine starts fine and runs ok.

Left Stalk
No indicators (but hazrds work fine)
Main Beam Flash works

Right Stalk
No wipers/washers at all
Able to cycle through DIS ok.

No horn :)whistle: )
No headlamps from switch but sidelights ok.
No front/rear foglamps.
Stereo ok

Haven't had a chance of checking anything else as yet. Too cold and too dark.

Is there a common fuse that controls the above malfunctioning items?

The Manual says there is an "on board network" 110amp fuse in the engine bay on top of the battery. Anyone know what this is for?

Any ideas/pointer to start rectification would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Mick

Just checked all the fuses including the ones on top of the battery and they all seem ok.

Another few faults I've found....

No fan for the climate control allthough the display indicates it's working.
The brake lights work.
No light inside glove box (even with sidelights on)
No heated rear screen
Mirrors fold in and adjust.

When I first switch the ignition on all the check lights illuminate and then go out as they should.

Rev counter is working.
The DIS is telling me all the correct information i.e time, outside temp etc....

It appears that anything that would drain a fair bit of current doesn't work

Help

lol. if the car under warranty by seat take it to them , they plug it and do a diagnostic for for fee.
if have you own laptop and diagnostic cable. you could check ur self.

Try this, may work. lol, disconnect the battery, waitin 5mins, reconnect it.

the best thing is do is to ask seat, the may charge since u dont hav d own diagnostic cable..
think abot this! alway these features u mention only work the ignition is, when u off the ignition these will not work. the best thing is diagnostic as it will pick any thing such as relays that malfunction.

Would a .pdf file showing the wiring for the car help?
PM me your email address and I will send it to you

A cheaper alternative would be an aftermarket vag specialist like VagTech around here. I'm sure someone could suggest on in Essex.

I have a similar problem on my TDI FR,

Engine runs, headlights, brake lights OK.

I basically loose all of the dashboard electronics, radio, climate control, speedo's etc.

Unfortunatley i'm not going to be much help, after having tried checking the fuses, disconnecting battery etc. I'm still stuck on what it could be.

Personally i think it is a dodgy connector block somewhere, as fortunately for me, when i went over a bump, everything sprung back into life, although my airbag light will not go out now.

Also i have been told, that when the cars are built, the dashboard with all its contents connected are put in whole, and are just linked to the rest of the wiring loom, with several large connector blocks. Sort of points to the problem i've got but who knows until a diagnostic is performed.

Cheers Spike

It could be a dodgy earth somewhere of a block has come disconnected

Anyway, the Stealers will rob me of some of my hard earned next week and hopefully be able to let me know what has gone wrong.

I'll post the results when I get them.

Just an update.

The problems I had described were very intermittent.

Anyway... Took it to the local stealer and it turns out I know the workshop foreman. A friend I hadn't seen for a while.

He had it in quickly and ran diags on it that showed no faults.
He temporarily bridged some wires and things started working again.

Booked it in and after 4 hours of trying to trace the problem, it turns out that the ignition switch was faulty. He replaced it and it's now all ok

My drivers footwell was soaked too but this turned out to be a hole in the bulkhead.
It looks like one of the previous owners had fitted a boost gauge and then removed it without bunging up the hole :censored:
