painting badges?

ello all.
i want to paint my SEAT S badges at rear and front to a darker grey sort of colour, whats the best stuff to put on them, don't want to debadge like other peeps have done or doing, just want em darker/more descrete.

Copycat! :p

The rear is a bit of a mission as it's the boot pop too, took me a while to get it out, I painted it BMW A08, graphite colour.

The front was not so hard but careful not to scratch it as you put it back in.

was it a spray can jobby, and do i need to remove the badges to paint em?

I noticed! :banned: Bloody diesel driving copycats... nothing is sacred!!

It is just a case of pull off, prime and spray, I didn't do it though!

I'm a landscape gardener, don't do mechanical stuuf to the car!! :happy:

ello again. where can i get the paint from, i'll obviously need primer but do i need laquer too?

Of a front badge sprayed? PM EdButler or Mike_OBD both have done their's imho they look ace, im tempted to do mine and sell the debadged grill!


Thanku very much! All i recommend is about 10 coats of paint and about 15 coats of laquer to stop chipping.... And you think im kidding dont you! :D Sand it down a little for the laquer to bed into, then prime, paint and laquer. You can get tha paint from any old motorfactors/halfrauds etc.

Just go for any colour you like mate. I just went to a Motorfactors and got "Pearlescent Black" and it looks loverly. Any Gloss/Matt/Metallic/Pearlescent black will do the job, its which ever you prefer that counts!

Bit of a mission as I said!

Open the boot, locate all screws that hold the plastic lining/cover on, pull this off, be careful though as they are funny metal clip things.

You'll see the boot handle is held on by 5 or 6 nuts, just unscrew those and it should pop out gently, remember to pull the boot release rod out first.

I'll do a more thorough run down with pics tomos as had trouble with my coilover fitting today so not in the mood!!

whats up with the fitting??? you doing it yourself? when i done mine i was fortunate evrything went smooth thank god. hope it works out mate!!

i like the idea but think im gonna keep my s badge standard now! dnt want it to look boyracer :no:

Me and mate were doing it yesterday from 12o'clock and couldn't get the drop links out or the shock for that matter!

We put it down to this... didn't have access to a hydraulic lifter.

Doing it today, well, paying skoda to do it! They're fitting the ARB aswell, my dad knows them quite well as he bought his VRS there.

Will fine tune ride height myself tomorrow.

i only had basic tools myself im sure you know what your doing but you need to turn the stering in a certain position get some mole grips on the rubber side of droplink connection (tight) and it will wizz straight off with a airgun or even a ratchet maybe with tap when nut is off. you need to get the driveshaft and lowerarm and stering rack disconnected from the steering knuckle and give steering knuckle a propper smack with club hammer downward with lump of wood with top mount bolts still done up and remember lubrication is everything!!! loads of wd-40 will come right off will save you a bundle of money doing it yourself rears are dead easy drop the axle and replace parts! hope this helps if you decide to give it anouther go!!

My mechanic mate is busy today and going away til after xmas so getting it done 2pm!
