OK, couple of questions i feel that i need to ask...

My car 2.0L 16V 'V' Reg Cupra Sport IBIZA

At idle the car seems to be a little bit shaky, in a sense that it feels that it is missfiring maybe, but im not sure that it is cos at low revs in a high gear it pulls away all fine and dandy...

When i rev it, it seems to take a while for the revs to drop back down to normal idle, too long in my opinion...

Related?
Its got a KnN induction kit on it which im trying to get rid of if you think this may be it? All else its standard...

Also, how do you get the rear trim off the boot, says SEAT and IBIZA on it, i had a look and it looks like 2 'C' clips holding either side on and a star shaped bolt holding the badge on?
Process for getting it off?

Just these little things, cos its a new car i just wanted to ask about, just incase im driving it around and its actually damaging the car.
Need to throw some $$$ at it soon, feel it needs some lovin, and the bodykit putting on... cant wait to see a black mk2 with the F2... (Bravus) bumpers on it

Thanks in advance

massive flywheel means the revs take ages to drop mate, so don't worry

misfire - just do a proper service, and replace all the plugs, leads, dizzy cap & rotor arm

yea thats where the money was going to be thrown at it, just make sure it is 100% mechanically sound before i do the rest of it... ill give the plugs and leads a change when i can, theyre the standard red ones on the engine so maybe they are the originals... its done nearly 95,000 miles so maybe just due a change
Thankyou

clean the throttle body helps a bit too

junk the induction kit before you sandblast ya pistons - drilled airbox and a decent filter is best bet

Would you suggest this over a closed induction kit? If price wasnt a problem which would you say?

i know the price of pistons if that helps ? for my opinion normal everyday use yes i would reccomend it - if your gonna clean check and oil it weekly etc - fine for an ind kit open or closed

just dont fit it and forget it

Dodgy idle could be down to throttle valve position sensor. Makes the revs jump up and down a little (between 500rpm)

Misfire could be spark plugs, HT leads, distributor, rotor arm, coil

About the rear trim...If you mean the black stockers that say SEAT on one side and IBIZA on the other (stickers that go in plastic rear trim), just get a screwdriver in there (covered in bog roll to stop scratches) and leaver them off. Then clean the sticky residue.

i think ill go with the air box then, ive advertised the induction kit for sale and swap with a std air box so maybe ill get one from that...
will go the air box route then i think

benefits from a subtle tone on normal driving and proper roar when you floor it

saves blippig the throttle and sounding like a rally car everytime you pull away

and as for sensor as -F2Ed- says - check its wiring - for some reason i've seen 3 with repairs to it already ???

I went down the Airbox route.........and I defo recommend it. Only thing is that KnN list 3 different panel filters for the 16v GTI. And of course the one I ordered didnt fit. So sent it back and got the other one which fits like a dream.

And most importantly.........The sound it makes is AWESOME :D

I've fitted a k+n 57i kit to my 2.0 16v GTI, and have had absolutley no problems with it, in fact I find the car to have far superior throttle response, added top end urge, and to my surprise, its hardly any noisier than the drilled airbox I had before.

If your having problems, I would think that its not the filter, but some other fault.

Hmmm, I always thought that although the car performed well, the throttle response was very dull, coupled to the ridiculously heavy flywheel effect that these engines seems to have, made the car feel a bit ****.

With the k+n fitted it seems to respond better to throttle input, aswell as feeling gruntier high up, it would struggle before at the top end of fourth, and fifth felt way too high.

Bit i've only ever used this kit in the colder weather, it might need to be removed in the summer when the temperature rises.

Yes you can if you have the 8 or 16 GTI. All you have to do is remove it from the car, drill about 8 3cm holes below the filter line on the wing side of the airbox. Replace the panel filter with a K&N one, and refit everything. There is a step by step guide of how to do it on the main SCN site (not the forum) under the "guides" section.
