I really like them shortened - ive never understood the legalities thouggh - as they are full size characters with the correct border - so are they legal?
Yep. Did this on my other car so the numberplate wasn't too wide.

I've had a 3/4 size one on for about a year and never had any problems :)

do you get pulled easy for smaller plates etc

I doubt you'd get pulled just for them, but it does give them a perfect excuse if they decide they want to talk to you for any other, less concrete reason...

i got a 3/4 size plate from fancyplates but having seen how small it is i am unsure wether to use it or not. you guys all say you have had no problems being pulled. may run with it for a few weeks and see what happens.

Surrey darling...
Does look good smaller - will look into getting 3/4 size front for mine... can they do them with the GB logo on the left as I'd like it to still match the rear?

They can do anything you like! Go onto the fancyplates website and create the look you like, with the border, flags, font etc all to your liking. When you then submit that and go onto the next page you have the chance to chose what size you want.

I'm sure there is a 3/4 size option in the drop down box, so pick that if that's the size you want. Or, as I did, you can enter your own measurements. I wanted the plate to be the exact size of the plate holder on the bumper, so I got those measurements and entered them into the FP website and bingo, job done :D

Don't go for a 3/4 sized plate as its slightly too small for the holder. I'll measure mine today but as Rob suggests if you tell them what size you want they will make it. I'm happy with the size of mine it really stands out and doesn't draw too much attention ;)

If nobody has come up with the measurements by tonight, let me know and I'll dig out the receipt from fancyplates as it details it on there. I would offer pics, but my car is at a body shop for a week.

I took a normal plate and cut off the sides with a saw - about 12cm either side i think.

Basically I measured the aperture on the bumper itself and added 1.5cm either side to make sure its covered.
