What does everybody think of plates this size?

This is not my car by the way but it shows an example of what I'm considering. I currently have a private plate with the same amount of digits as the car in the photos. I have normal sized plates at mo and am thinking of doing the same and fitting the smaller ones. I already have these plates from a previous car. I think the front looks good, what do you think of the back though as the aperture is quite large?? Opinions please? Also, which sticky pads do I need the thin white ones from halfrauds or the thick black ones? I'm guessing the former...?

I really like them shortened - ive never understood the legalities thouggh - as they are full size characters with the correct border - so are they legal?

Definately look awesome though!!!

I like the smaller plate on the front, I'll be doing the same myself at some point. But I would keep the standard sized rear.

If you don't want to go chopping down your original plates, www.fancyplates.com offer any size plates you want. If they don't list the size you want you can enter the measurements in yourself and you can also chose to have an alternative sized front plate and a standard rear, or visa versa.

I used fancyplates 3/4 size front which is in the picture above with a standard sized rear.......they were cheap and service is great

I agree! I ordered a tiny front plate from them for my old Celica. I chose the font and layout and punched in the measurements I wanted and they made it all work for me and it cost no more than standard plates!

Just about to do mine now. I ordered a 3/4 sized plate from fancyplates for my lotus it looked great but can't be bothered with avoiding the police so I've checked the legalities and not a problem cutting plate down as long as you keep the required amount around the letters and they are correct font and size which mine are. I will post up pics when I'm finished!

I don't understand this whole idea of messing around with plates that are borderline illegal. Why not just acept what the rules are and concentrate on the rest of the car.

The number plate is there for a reason and not as a fasion accessory - In my eyes anyone messing around with a non standard plate should have their car crushed !!

I think it makes the whole front of the car look so much better, the 3/4 size fits the numberplate space perfectly... :)

No issues with it as yet, the letters are nearly the same size as normal, just trimmed off the fat.

lol ooo contensious (spelling*)

I think cut down looks cool but i wouldnt change the font size, just trim off the excess if you have a short reg like C1 CHC or something

i like to mix it up from time to time.., i also think the square plates look good too, if you have a full reg, and are not wanting to cut down the plate, or get a small one.

I had a 3/4 sized plate on my lotus elise and it looked great and despite been illegal I never got pulled for it. My plate now is cutdown but font size is legal. Steve's pic looks good with 3/4 plate at front but I went with the cut down standard plate as having a grey car the 3/4 plate would have left paint work showing. Think Steve got away with it because he had black car.Smooth there is nothing wrong with mixing it up a bit and been original. If we all did the same it would be boring as we would all be driving the same car!
