Petrol consumption

Our friendly, local constabulary took my picture with their cash collection machine (sorry, SAFETY camera) on an empty dual carriageway, miles from anywhere at 8am on a fine, dry, Sunday morning.

Since then I have been driving like the model motorist. I don't want to accidentally exceed the speed limit again. I can do without the prizes they give you when you collect points!

Anyway, to my point. Sticking within speed limits I find that on a run I am getting over 37mpg in a stock LCR.

That seems pretty good to me. Anyone else getting this kind of mileage?

26mpg if I'm lucky in mine.....! I must admit the gauge doesn't seem that accurate to me though. All I know if the petrol station is my best friend :) But why have a fast car if you can't drive it fast??!

Yeah I know!

I was going to get it revo'd. Had the trial, loved it. But when I thought about it, why bother if I am too stressed looking for cameras to want to drive fast!

Mind you, its not always about exceeding the speed limit, its about how quickly you can get to it!

all i know is mine gave me 241 miles to a full tank :(

Ouch!

did you replace your throttle with a 'stop/go' switch!?

Since I became a born again model driver I have been getting 420 miles to a tank. I was getting 350 before.

Beat my record last week at 482miles to 1 tank.

It was stuttering as it went into the garage forecourt so it was definitely running on fumes and i managed to get 59.5litres back into it.

It wasn't for trying either as most of my journey was at 50-60mph friday afternoon traffic. I dont think i once got over 70mph:censored: It was all motorway miles done over 2 days.

59litres is roughly 13 gallons so it worked out at roughly 37mpg:funk:

Thats in a mapped LCR running 280bhp so ive got to say that is extremely good for the spec and power of the car.

What a boring 482miles though:happy:

I usually get 350ish to a normal tank which is around 27mpg

I get around 300 miles to the tank and an average of 26MPG. I do a mix of rush hour driving and motorway miles and either drive like a granny or like my hair is on fire!

Man what are you boys doing with LCR's!!

I normally get 210 miles out of my tank, i average 20mpg and i don't really think i push it that much.

I honestly don't know how it's possible to get those sort of ranges.

A bad example last night though shot me down in flames.

I came back from Llandudno to Crewe which is a 140 mile round trip.

On coming back on the A55 dual carriage way the limit drops from 75mph to 50mph in Conwy for about 4 miles.

To my annoyance, Mr Plod was waiting like a sniper up a slip road with no lights on,zapped me at 75mph and came after me all guns blazing.

£60 fine and my first three points in 13 years of driving.

At the end of the day i was speeding and don't condone or brag about it but it was 21.30 last night on an empty dual carriageway, i'm in the outside lane and doing the speed limit that is acceptable on the remaining 100 miles of the A55.

So i don't think i was dangerous, careless or inappropriate for thoise conditions, but as i say it was speeding so i face the fine.

Back to the MPG issue.

My trip home from Llandudno to Crewe last night was 70 miles dead and i only averaged 15mpg over the trip.

Now that's bad fuel economy!!!

Needlesss to say it only took 50 mins and that includes the pullover ....ooops!!

Until now I wouldn't have thought that the difference in driving style would account for such a huge difference in fuel consumption!

This brief straw poll is showing between 26mpg and 39 mpg. That's an amazing difference!

Can it all be down to driving style or are the cars running differently?
Mine is a stock LCR 55 plate running on V power

You do know your car has 6 gears:D ;)

Some people may fill their tanks up 1/2 way and say that they only get 200 miles to a tank aswell. You need to go way down, 25 miles past when the computer says 0 to empty your tank, and you need to fill it up again until a little drop pours down the side of the car. Way past when the pump clicks

Thats what i call a full tank:D ;)

Seriously even when i use a full bottle of nitrous to 1 petrol tank i can still get more than 210 miles lol:lol:

Are you sure you dont have a hole in your tank somewhere;)

15mpg over a journey is some going:blink:
