Any one have any problems with a noisey starter on there v5 toledos,just the last couple of days mine sounds really bad,funny i had the same noise on an early v5 golf i used to own.

does it make a real loud buzzing sound after engine has started for about a second? If so it is the Starter solenoid sticking. This will eventually seize and need replacing, but for the time being it is doing no harm as my 1.8 SE is doing the same thing and has done for months. If it does seize advice given to me by the garage is to smack it with a hammer.

If it doesn't help, it's a good way of taking out your anger!!!
Cheers lads, i think its ok again,a bit wd 40 and a wee clean up of the connections fingers crossed.
